Loose Women’s Coleen Nolan opened up about her secret health battle in the wake of her sister Linda’s death on Tuesday’s instalment of the ITV show.

The 59-year-old lifted the lid on the ‘insane and terrible’ condition which was triggered by grief after Linda, who battled with breast cancer for 20 years, pᴀssed away on January 15 with double pneumonia. 

The panel – which consisted of Coleen, Ruth Langsford, 64, Denise Welch, 66, and Janet Street-Porter, 78 – discussed how important it is to look after your skin. 

Coleen said to the rest of the panel: ‘My skin has gone insane.’

Denise replied: ‘Well you’ve had your fair share of stress.’ 

‘I got a terrible rash all around my middle, it went up my shoulders.

‘It was so sore and so itchy. I’m thinking what is this? It was all over Christmas and New Year. 

‘Then obviously when Linda pᴀssed, I went to the dermatologist and he’s like “Yeah it’s eczema.” 

‘I was like “I’ve never had eczema in my life!”

‘He said… “No, but you’re very stressed. 

‘And the first place that stress shows itself, or any condition is your skin.”‘

It comes shortly after Coleen shared an emotional birthday tribute for her sister just weeks after attending her funeral.

The TV star took to social media to celebrate what would have been her 66th birthday.

WHAT IS ECZEMA?

Eczema is an inflammatory condition of the skin that leads to redness, blistering, oozing, scaling and thickening.

It usually appears in the first few months of life and affects around 10 per cent of babies.

Eczema’s cause is not fully understood but it is thought to be brought on by the skin’s barrier to the outside world not working properly, which allows irritants and allergy-inducing substances to enter.

It may be genetic due to the condition often running in families.

As well as their skin being affected, sufferers may experience insomnia and irritability.

Many factors can make eczema worse. These may include:

Heat, dust, soap and detergentsBeing unwell, such as having a coldInfectionsDry skinStress

There is no cure for eczema, however, 70 per cent of childhood sufferers no longer have the condition in their teens.

Patients should avoid known triggers for flare ups and use emollients.

‘I miss you so much and life won’t be the same without you in it…’

Just days before Coleen hit back after being brutally trolled for smiling at Linda’s funeral. 

Speaking on Loose Women, Coleen said: ‘We’ve got to stop judging people on how we deal with grief.

‘And I’ve got to stop caring what other people think. 

‘I got out of the funeral car smiling because there were about 2,000 people looking and smiling.

‘And I’m getting slated on social media… “What’s she smiling about?”

‘I’m like… I don’t know what you want me to do! 

‘It bothered me at first and I thought, I’ve got to stop caring what people… we all deal with it differently.’  

The singer got very emotional when she realised how many people had turned up to celebrate her sister’s life. 

Coleen explained: ‘It made us cry in the car.

‘When we turned the corner there was all these people there and it made us cry because Linda would have loved it!

‘I was so glad they turned out for her. So it was a graтιтude thing.’

On Saturday 1 February Linda’s family and friends gathered at St. Paul’s Church in Blackpool to celebrate her life.

Earlier this month Coleen broke down in tears as she detailed Linda’s final moments on the ITV show. 

Coleen said: ‘Linda battled it for 20 years and she never gave up. She hated it, hated losing her hair, and she did that four times.’

‘And right up until the end, the day she was pᴀssing away, the day before she was up eating soup and eating a sandwich and we were all having a laugh and then she just took a turn.’

‘But when she couldn’t talk to us anymore but was still breathing, they said at two o’clock in the afternoon, they said ‘she’ll go soon’.

‘And she didn’t go till half past 10 the following day, she still wouldn’t go, I was like “she’s not ready she wants an encore”. 

‘But yeah she fought it till the end.’

Coleen and Linda sH๏τ to fame as part of the Nolans in 1974. 

The two were in the band alongside their sisters Anne, Denise, Maureen and Bernie.
