How ’emotional’ Tom Selleck, 80, REALLY feels about Blue Bloods spinoff after show was axed

‘Emotional’ Tom Selleck’s real feelings about the H๏τly-anticipated Blue Bloods spinoff have been revealed.

The screen icon, 80, played patriarch Frank Reagan on the CBS show from 2010-2024, alongside Donnie Wahlberg as Danny Reagan – who will lead the new series, Boston Blue.

A insider told Closer Selleck is open to the idea of coming back for a cameo on the new show, saying: ‘Tom’s been pretty vocal when it comes to his feelings about the network ending Blue Bloods. He did not want to say goodbye to that role, so naturally he’s very open to coming back and doing cameos on Donnie’s show.

‘They are still very close, over the nearly 15 years they worked together they developed such a fantastic relationship. They’re genuine friends, in a lot of ways they grew to be like family, that’s how bonded they were.

‘They both got emotional filming their last dinner scene on Blue Bloods because it was the last, but now that this series is happening, they may get to do another. It’s set in Boston so it won’t be a regular family dinner thing like on the last show but there’s the potential and Tom would be all for doing it.’

DailyMail.com has contacted representatives for Tom Selleck for comment.

The show will move from New York City to Boston.

Blue Bloods debuted in 2010, following the Reagan’s, a family of New York City cops, led by patriarch Frank Reagan (Selleck).

The law & order family also included his sons Danny (Wahlberg) and Jamie (Will Estes) and daughter Erin (Bridget Moynihan).

The series ran for 14 seasons spanning 293 episodes, coming to a close with the series finale in December 2024.

The new series will follow Wahlberg’s Danny, who takes a position with the Boston Police Department, the actor’s hometown, according to a CBS press release.

He will be teamed up in Beantown with Lena Peters, who is the eldest daughter in a prominent Boston law enforcement family.

The new series will be enтιтled Boston Blue and was given a straight-to-series order from CBS, bypᴀssing the pilot phase completely.

The show is being eyed to debut on CBS at some point in the 2025-2026 TV season though no specific date was given.

After spending five seasons on the hit series, they moved on to create the Bad Boys TV spin-off L.A.’s Finest starring Gabrielle Union and Jessica Alba.

They also most recently wrote for CBS’ S.W.A.T. and Fox’s Alert: Missing Persons Unit.
