Shakira has thanked fans for their outpouring of support after she revealed her hospitalization.

The Hips Don’t Lie songstress, 48, announced earlier that day she was taken to the ER on Saturday night after suffering abdominal issues.
Shakira has also revealed she was cancelling her show in Lima, Peru that day after doctor’s determined she was not well enough to hit the stage.
‘I am sorry to inform you all that last night I had to go to the ER for an abdominal issue and am currently hospitalized,’ she began in her statement, posted to Instagram Stories.
‘The doctors whose care I am currently under have communicated that I am not in good enough condition to perform this evening.’

‘I am very sad to not be able to take the stage today. I’ve been looking forward to reuniting with my incredible fans here in Peru.’
‘I hope to be released and well tomorrow so I’m able to perform,’ she continued in the statement.
‘My team and the promoters are already working on a new date to communicate to you.’
‘Thank you all for your understanding. I love you all,’ she wrote, signing off with ‘Shak.’
The singer is currently in the midst of her Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran World Tour – which officially kicked off this week on Tuesday in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The tour is her first in seven years and is named after her 12th studio album which dropped last year in March 2024.
Shakira’s next concert is set for February 20 in Columbia, and she will make stops in other countries such as Chile, Argentina, Mexico, Canada and the United States.
The final date in the star’s world tour is set for late this year on June 30 in San Francisco.

Earlier this month, the performer made an appearance at the 67th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles and Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran notably garnered a win for Best Latin Pop Album.
She was accompanied by her sons Milan, 12, and Sasha, 10, whom she shares with ex Gerard Piqué. The former couple split back in June 2022.
Upon taking to the stage to accept the award, the star shared a political message in her speech.

‘I want to dedicate this award to all my immigrant brothers and sisters in this country. You are loved. You are worth it. I will always fight with you.’
Shakira then referenced to her hit 2009 track She Wolf by adding, ‘To all of those women who worked really hard every day to provide for their families, you are the true She Wolves. So this is for you too.’
The beauty also gave a sweet shout out to her sons and gushed, ‘They are here with me.’
‘I’m so proud of you guys, of your kind hearts. Thank you so much for supporting me the way you do. I love you. Thank you.’

‘It doesn’t only talk about pain; it also talks about triumph,’ the award-winning singer further expressed.
‘And that’s why these tears are not tears made of resentment anger or just sadness, but tears of triumph and tears of self-recognition and finding confidence within.’
She added, ‘It’s not linear. There’s ups and downs and valleys and peaks. And this album is made of all of those dynamics.’
The star also stated that ‘there is a great variety within this album. There’s pop, there’s Afrobeat, there’s reggaeton. There’s some Mexican regionals as well. Rock. But there is a common thread.’
‘And that is based off of genuine, authentic life experiences and the process of elaborating those intense emotions and feelings that I’ve been having to deal with during this past couple of years.’
