Fans of The White Lotus have been left ‘devastated’ just minutes into the new season after spotting a key change to an iconic part of the show.

The third season of the popular social satire show premiered on Sunday and follows the antics of guests and employees at a resort in Thailand over a week.

However, some viewers noticed a ‘heinous’ change during the very start of the eight-part series.

The club-inspired theme song remained similar in both season one and two, but composer Cristobal Tapia de Veer mixed things up for the third instalment to better suit the new location.

Many fans clocked the difference and one even raged online, ‘why would they do that?!’.

The White Lotus stars Natasha Rothwell as Belinda Lindsey, Jon Gries as Greg Hunt and Walton Goggins as Rick Hatchett.

Other cast members include Jennifer Coolidge as Tanya McQuoid-Hunt and Patrick Schwarzenegger as Saxon Ratliff, amongst others. 

This season takes place in Thailand, with the premiere introducing the wealthy characters fans will be following, including the Ratliff family.

Patriarch Timothy (Jason Isaacs) is a wealthy businessman, who reveals early on that he brought the whole family to Thailand so his daughter Piper (Sarah Catherine Hook) could interview a Buddhist monk for her college thesis.

Timothy is also joined by his wife Victoria (Parker Posey) and their sons Saxon (Patrick Schwarzenegger) and Lochlan (Sam Nivola).

The White Lotus airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic in the UK, with episodes available to stream on NOW.
