It’s been almost five years since Glee star Naya Rivera died at age 33, leaving behind her then four-year-old son Josey.

Now, her ex-husband Ryan Dorsey and the father of her son is speaking out about all those rumors that he moved on from her death with her very own sister, Nickayla Rivera, 30.

Ryan was firm that he never romanced Nickayla. 

Naya drowned while swimming in Lake Piru in Ventura County, California while boating with her son in 2020.

Two months later, Ryan and Nickayla were spotted shopping for Josey’s birthday celebration. And that’s when rumors that they were romantically involved started to spread. 

‘The funny thing is, it did look like we were holding hands, but we grazed fingers on the escalator, and then it was this whole thing,’ Dorsey told the outlet.

‘That was the only time I’ve ever addressed anything on social media because it was just so insane.’

And what was especially unbelievable was the fact that Naya’s fans started to think Ryan and Nickayla had something to do with her death.

‘People were tagging the FBI,’ he said. ‘Just f***ing insane.’

Ryan had to lean on Nickayla after Naya died because he needed someone to take care of Josey. 

‘She was such a big help,’ Dorsey said in his first interview since Naya’s death.

‘I wanted to keep Josey’s life somewhat normal, and I knew I was going to be out of town working,’ he explained.

‘I had to go to Vancouver for five months and Josey came the last month to stay with me, but during the time I was gone she held it down and kept that consistency.

‘She served as somewhat of a female figure and helped be the other voice of reason,’ he continued of her stay, which he lasted about a year, People reported.

‘It was very surreal sometimes because the way she would say things to Josey would sound like his mom.’

Ryan and Naya first got together in 2010 for a few month and rekindled their relationship in 2014.

They married in Cabo San Lucas in July 2014 and welcomed Josey Hollis on September 15, 2015. They divorced in 2018.

Two years ago, Dorsey decided to move back to West Virginia, which is where he is from.  

‘When we were living in L.A. for the two years after Naya’s death, I was auditioning in my garage, rent was $6,000 a month, and it’s like, I’m getting nothing for Josey’s future,’ he said. 

‘It didn’t make sense to stay because COVID changed our industry to where all my auditions were on tape, and I can audition in a garage anywhere. 

‘West Virginia is just a completely different place. There’s not much to do, but it feels safe and there’s no traffic.’

But the proud dad isn’t done with L.A. by a long sH๏τ. He travels back to the west coast for work – he is currently in CBS’ Tracker – and to visit Naya’s family. 

‘I love her family so much: her dad, her mom, her sister, her brother, we all get along so good and we’re all still close,” he said.

‘We’re, obviously, even closer now, and we stay at grandma’s. He’s really close to both sides of his family, and we make sure of that.’

Dorsey also revealed he and Josey flew to L.A. to surprise Naya’s mom for her birthday.

‘I didn’t tell grandma that Josey was coming, so we showed up and we got her some flowers and a balloon,’ he said. 

‘He rang the doorbell, and she had the best surprise. She was so happy to see him. She said it was the best birthday ever.’
