The Chase’s Anne Hegerty reveals what she REALLY earns from her role on the popular ITV show

The Chase’s Anne Hegerty has revealed that she can’t rely on a steady salary despite the show’s success.

The TV personality, 66, known as The Governess on the hit ITV show, admitted that despite the success of the quiz show, none of the chasers are paid a set salary.

Speaking to The Mirror at the TV Choice Awards on Monday, Anne explained that she and the other chasers wouldn’t want to welcome a new addition to the team anytime soon for one key reason.

When asked whether a new chaser might join the show in the future, she replied: ‘Well, we do always hope not.’

She continued: ‘We are paid per show, so we’re not on a salary. It’s not as if they’re going to up the budget and add a new salary.’

‘A new chaser would just mean the same number of shows shared between more people – so less money for everyone. So, hope not!’

Though Anne acknowledged that the addition of a new chaser would cut into her earnings, she clarified that she holds no ill will toward Darragh Ennis, who joined the show in 2020.

Anne also spoke about the camaraderie between the chasers, revealing that despite their compeтιтive nature, they all get along well and often spend time together, especially when they’re all filming.

Despite not having a guaranteed salary from The Chase, Anne’s business, Frosty Knickers Ltd, reported over £807,000 in revenue as of August 2023, according to The Mirror.

While her firm’s ᴀssets and net worth are impressive, Anne has said she’s not a big spender, believing there’s no need to ‘slosh money around’.

She also shared that she once relied on benefits while working as a journalist before her time on The Chase. As a result, she’s no stranger to saving and living frugally.

However, Anne does indulge in a few luxuries. She splits her time between homes in Manchester and Watford, making her work with The Chase more convenient.

She also treats herself to first-class or business flights when traveling abroad for quiz events and enjoys stays at Club Med.

Her appearance at the TV Choice Awards comes after MailOnline revealed last month that ITV bosses are set to cash in on the show’s success at venues across the country.

The daytime quiz show sees contestants go up against one of six chasers – Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan and Darragh Ennis – to win money.

A source said: ‘The Chase is one of ITVs most loved and popular shows, and this is a great way for ITV to bring in much-needed money to the network.’

The idea is to attract to provide ‘immersive experiences’, with the market booming as consumers look to alternatives to an evening down the pub.

The Chase airs on ITV weekdays at 5pm.
