The sad news of Rita’s pet pᴀssing comes after she shared a sweet tribute to her pal  Davina McCall, 57, following her interview with Steven Bartlett, 32, where she revealed how having her brain tumour removed affected her personality.

Reposting a clip of the emotional interview, Rita wrote: ‘I love you @davinamccall forever my inspiration and friend so honoured to know you. Hardest working woman in television.’

The TV personality was forced to have surgery in November after doctors discovered a benign cyst on her brain that affects three in a million people.

The tumour was picked up at a private clinic after she was offered a health check after taking part in a talk about menopause.

And now, for the newest instalment of her Begin Again podcast, the Masked Singer host got emotional as she lifted the lid on her health woes in a candid interview with Steven.

While Davina is usually the one asking the questions, she opted to swap places and brought in the Dragons Den star to help tell her story.

In a new short teaser clip, Davina got visibly emotional as she explained: ‘I felt like this thing had taken control of me. They said, “You’ve got a benign cyst in your brain.”

Steven then asked: ‘You wake up, post-op, what happens there?’ to which she responded: ‘I don’t really remember where I was.’

Revealing her worries about losing her personality, she continued: 'You realise that your personality is your short-term memory.'

Revealing her worries about losing her personality, she continued: ‘You realise that your personality is your short-term memory.’

Unable to hold back the tears, she began crying as she said: ‘I was like, “I’m still in here”. I began again.’

In the caption, Davina wrote: ‘This week I’m swapping seats. I am completely overwhelmed with the amount of messages of love and support from every single one of you – truly!’

‘And of course, there was only one place I could come to tell this story. With none other than Mr Steven Bartlett (@steven)! Who’s keeping my seat warm for me this week.’

She revealed that the full episode will be available to listen to from 8am on Thursday (06.02), as she signed off with: ‘It’s time for me, to Begin Again (again, again, again).’

Weeks after her successful operation to remove the growth, Davina revealed her survival felt like a ‘gift’ while she reflected on the success of her new Begin Again podcast.

Taking to Instagram at the end of December, the TV star recorded a video as she thanked fans for their support over her latest project, while also looking back on her own health journey as she admitted she feels like she’s ‘begun again’.

She explained: ‘Thanks for joining me on my Begin Again podcast. I’ve loved recording this podcast, and I’ve loved meeting everybody.’

‘What I’ve enjoyed about recording this podcast is, it’s so so broad. Begin Again can mean anything, it can mean something similar to what I’ve just been through, which is having a life-threatening tumour and it being removed.’

‘I feel like I’ve begun again, I mean in the weirdest sense, I guess because I’ve had a positive outcome. It’s like being given a second chance at life. It feels amazing, almost as if I’ve been given a gift.’

The former Big Brother host then went on to list other ways that beginning again relates to other people, as she listed things such as an enormous crisis, losing a job, a divorce or an accident.

Davina added that she’ll be on hand to support those who feel like they’re ‘stagnating’ in life or just need a ‘kick up the bum’ as she opened up about her hopes and plans for the podcast’s future.

After a few moments of reflection, she concluded by adding: ‘I have found Christmas so challenging in the past and now I don’t find it challenging. So there’s always the possibility of new beginnings… always.

‘I think I’m gonna be a nightmare next year – I’ve gone very self-reflective!’
