Dancing On Ice’s Michaela Strachan revealed that she fell ‘flat on her face’ in a ‘Gemma Collins-style’ tumble while training for the live shows – and also suffered a muscle spasm that left her ‘unable to move’.
The 58-year-old, who is currently taking part in this year’s series of the ITV skate compeтιтion, appeared on This Morning to chat about how things are going.
Michaela and her skating partner Mark Hanretty, 39, have certainly been impressing the judges after scoring a whopping 34 points on Sunday.
But although their skate was successful last week, training has still included some nasty falls.
Michaela told presenters Dermot O’Leary, 51, and Rochelle Humes, 35: ‘I fell flat on my face, I seem to be okay.’
As she watched the fall, she joked: ‘I fall a lot. I think that’s the best thing I did, the first time I fell I realised I hadn’t hurt myself, so now I’m not frightened of falling.

The TV presenter did share a clip of the dreaded fall on her Instagram with her 76.6k followers
‘You tend to fall better. Both of us, Mark and I fell the other day, I fell last week, flat on my face.
‘I seem to have been okay.’
They then played the fall out on our screens and she said: ‘Look at that – that’s a Gemma Collins fall. Flat on my face! Remarkably I got up and didn’t help myself.’
Gemma Collins took part in the skating show back in 2019.
During her stint in the compeтιтion she fought back the tears as she fell in the final moments of her routine and had to be whisked off to physiotherapy.
Naturalist Michaela then revealed another bad injury that she’s suffered with.
She added: ‘The worst thing that has happened is I pulled my muscle between my ribs, it went into spasm when we were training and I did think “Gosh, if that happens on the show that’s really embarrᴀssing”, because you literally cant move.’
Michaela shared the shocking fall, where she skidded on her face, on Instagram.

Gemma Collins fell live on Dancing On Ice back in 2019 when she took part in the compeтιтion
The TV star was busy showing off her incredible moves to Shakira’s Waka Waka (This Time for Africa).
But as she turned a corner she lost her balance and fell to the floor – however she did manage to style it out by pretending that it was intentional.
‘How to style out a fall!,’ Michaela wrote over the top of the clip.
She captioned the post: ‘Styling out a fall in training with last week for Waka Waka!
‘Well the song does say “when you fall, get up. Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, get back in the saddle”.
‘There have been many falls on this journey, many times I’ve picked myself up and with it has come many, many bruises!
‘The anxiety is hoping a fall like that doesn’t happen on the live shows!’
Michaela was over the moon to find out that they were both still in the compeтιтion, despite the fall.
She said on Instagram: ‘We’re through to the next round! Huge thank you for every single vote. It means the world to me and @makhanretty.
‘Wow what a night! I loved performing to Waka Waka. Exhausting, but so much fun. The end pose made me laugh watching it back! My tᴀssels got caught in Mark’s shirt, but think we managed to style it out?
‘Almost feel like it’s a badge of honour to be told by the judges that there was too much solo skating! Esp when I think back to my first week of training when I was terrified to let go of my coach!
‘The routine was fast and tricky, so very glad we got through it in one piece. Every week is nerve wracking!!
‘Looking forward to next week, which will be very different again.
‘Loving this whole journey and loving my partnership with the ever-encouraging @markhanretty. Can’t thank him enough.’
So far Chelsee Healey, Josh Jones, Ferne McCann and Steve Redgrave have been voted off the show.
This means that Michaela, Sam Aston, Charlie Brooks, Dan Edgar, Anton Ferdinand, Mollie Pearce and Chris Taylor are battling it out for the top spot.
This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV and is available to stream on ITVX.
