Ariana Grande fielded a number of calls after learning of her first Oscar nomination for Wicked, though perhaps none more strange than one from her gynecologist.
The 31-year-old actress and singer was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of Galinda in Wicked last month.
She’ll be going up against Monica Barbaro (A Complete Unknown), Felicity Jones (The Brutalist), Isabella Rossellini (Conclave) and Zoe Saldana (Emilia Perez).
Grande appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday, where she revealed she was in London when the nominations were announced.
The actress admitted she was ‘sobbing’ when other nominations for Wicked were announced, but when her name was called, ‘I almost collapsed,’ she admitted.
She added that, ‘my mom called instantly. My best friends called, my team called, then my therapist and then even my gynecologist.’

Kimmel was stunned at the last revelation, though she added, ‘It was lovely,’ though she was admittedly a bit frazzled.
She told her gynecologist, “Oh my God, it’s been awhile, we good? Is everything great?’

Grande added, ‘No, she was so sweet, she was like, “Oh, my god, you did it, I’m so proud,” as she told her, “Thank you, we’ll hug over the next breast exam or whatever.”‘
She was also nominated for a Golden Globe last month, and she brought her mother to the ceremony, which resulted in a bizarre red carpet moment.
Grande told Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier that she just met Harrison Ford and that was her, ‘goal,’ as she added, ‘We’ve pretty much done everything except Harrison Ford. I don’t mean we did it,’ as the singer looked quite horrified.
Kimmel joked that it looked like, ‘a little ghost punched you in the stomach right at that moment.’
The actress added that her mom asked, ‘Can we cut that?’ She responded, ‘I don’t think so. I think it happened already.’
She also revealed one of her Saturday Night Live sketches about an awkward game night was based on an actual family game night.

Wicked is up for 10 Oscars including one for her co-star Cynthia Erivo and the coveted Best Picture.
Grande said her family loves game nights very much, adding, ‘I just love to play them. But certain other family members love to win them. It’s life or death.’
‘And one of my brothers’ husband’s brothers made a joke, (they) were winning and like, “Ha ha, we’re really winning (censored),” that kind of thing,’ Grande explained.
‘And my mom was like, “What, you got a tiny d**k or something?” And I was like, “Bowen, we have to write a sketch.” I was like, “There’s something here,” she admitted.
