Allison Holker says Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss left her with eye-watering tax bill after ‘reckless drug spending’

Allison Holker opened up about the ‘financial mess’ her late husband Stephen ‘tWitch’ Boss left behind following his tragic death in 2022.

In her memoir, This Far: My Story of Love, Loss, and Embracing the Light, the professional dancer revealed that the Ellen DeGeneres Show star’s reckless spending—prior to his suicide at age 40—left a mountain of tax bills that only added to her burdens.

‘It’s a misconception that I inherited Stephen’s wealth,’ Allison wrote. ‘He had given away substantial sums of money to family and friends and spent recklessly on drugs and his bizarre art collections.’

She went on to reveal the staggering cost of his financial chaos: ‘The tax bill that he left me with for the year he died was $1 million.’

Despite her grief, Allison, who shares children Weslie, 16, Maddox, 8, and Zaia, 5, with Stephen, said sorting through the family’s ᴀssets offered a distraction, but she’s still ‘in the trenches’ managing their finances.

‘If he had known how much of our hard-earned money would go to pay lawyers’ fees to clean up the mess he left me with, would it have made any difference?’ she wrote.

‘I’d like to believe it would have. Stephen left me with double the work, double the noise, double the hardships, double the confusion—and half the household earnings.’

The revelation comes after Allison shared her desire to purchase—and demolish—the Encino, California motel where Stephen tragically took his life.

Boss was found ᴅᴇᴀᴅ in room 249 at the Oak Tree Inn in what authorities deemed a suicide via a self-inflicted gunsH๏τ to the head.

‘One day, hand on heart, that motel will cease to exist,’ Allison wrote.

She admitted she wasn’t yet certain how it would happen, but demolishing the site of the tragedy remained a long-term goal on her to-do list.

‘I don’t know how, and I don’t care how much money it costs, but my goal is to buy it and tear it down,’ she said.

In the book – which Boss’ family has clashed with Holker over – the widow of the star said that in the wake of her spouse’s death, ‘it was obvious to [her] that Stephen was trying to communicate with’ her and their family at the Encino home they lived in, which was not too far from the motel he died at.

Holker, who ultimately sold the home in November 2023 – less than a year after her husband’s death – said in the book that her late husband’s presence could be strongly felt in the abode.

‘We had our nightly ritual of sitting in the H๏τ tub, under the stars, and conversing with Stephen,’ Holker said in the book. ‘We could feel his electromagnetic force field in the sky and inside in the lights that flickered in response to questions and comments we’d pose to him.

‘It was a metaphysical connection that we cherished – until we didn’t.’

Holker said that ‘after a while, there was a palpable shift in the house’s energy,’ which impacted the behavior of her two younger children.

‘Maddox and Zaia, who rarely bickered, suddenly started behaving very disagreeably toward each other,’ Holker said. ‘And as wild as this sounds, the electricity became moody, acting up without rhyme or reason. Weslie or I would walk into a room, turn on the light and … nothing.’

Holker added, ‘I know it sounds wild, but it was obvious to me that Stephen was trying to communicate with us.’

Holker said she ‘began to feel spooked by the bed that Stephen and I had shared’ and that ‘it became a nightmare to sleep in it.’
