Matt Lucas and David Walliams FINALLY reunite as they launch exciting new project – 15 years after their last series ended

Matt Lucas and David Walliams have finally reunited to launch a brand new podcast, welcoming Rob Brydon as their first guest.

The Little Britain stars had an entertaining chat with the Gavin and Stacey actor, 59, on the show, тιтled Making A Scene, which sees celebrities direct a movie of their life, down to the key scenes and cast.

The project is their first in 15 years, when they rounded off their sole season of Come Fly With Me – a mockumentary about a fictional airport and airlines.

It will be accompanied by a weekly spin-off You Can’t Ask Me That, which will invite listeners to send in their most outrageous and uncomfortable questions to the duo.

New episodes are out every Tuesday and will see the likes of Richard E. Grant, Alan Carr, Andrew Mensah, Jack Whitehall, Kevin Bishop, Tia Kofi and Stephen Merchant lay out the story of their lives.

This week, Rob revealed that people regularly get him confused with Strictly Come Dancing judge Anton Du Beke and vice versa.

David, 53, asked: ‘How many times have you been mistaken for Anton Du Beke?’

The comedian replied: ‘A lot. And he for me. And on a good day, hear me out, Hugh Grant. I said that to Morgana Robinson and she said “It’s a bad day for Hugh.” Sometimes I’ve turned the telly on and Anton’s been on, and I thought it was me.’

The actor went on to say that Anton would be a shoo in to play him a movie, which he billed as being an ‘underdog’ story, although he would hold out hope for Michael Fᴀssbender or Joaquin Phoenix to accept the role.

Last month, Rob posted a throwback picture of him and Gavin and Stacey co-star Ruth Jones performing in their school’s production of Carousel 40 years ago.

On the show, he explained that the Welsh actress, 58, was like the ‘sister he never wanted’ but their ambition to be stars and to entertain brought them together.

Rob chose Penelope Cruz to play his dear friend Ruth and said he would play his own drama teacher, using his famous Ronnie Corbett impression.

Rob and Ruth’s friendship dates back more than four decades, with the pair first becoming friends aged 14 when at school in Wales.

Speaking about how they first met, Rob told ITV’s Lorraine: ‘I first got into musical theatre at school in the late ’70s, early ’80s, which is where I met Ruth Jones.

‘So, I’ve known her since I was a teenager, and we were in the school musicals together.’

Referring to a throwback pH๏τo, the comedian added: ‘That’s Carousel, and I’m wearing my uncle’s stack-heeled boots to give me some kind of height advantage.

‘That’s Ruth there on the left, we also did Guys & Dolls.’

It was a friendship that no doubt helped Rob land his role in Gavin & Stacey, with Ruth previously telling British Comedy Guide that he quickly came to mind once she started writing Bryn’s role.

The minute he read the first two episodes, he rang Ruth and said: ‘I really, really want to do it. I know exactly who he is; I know exactly what he wears; how he walks; how he speaks.’

Earlier this year, Rob once again discussed his closeness to Ruth, telling the Guardian: ‘I love Ruth, you know.

‘She’s still my closest female friend and the closest thing I have to a sister. Shooting the final special with her was such an emotional thing.’

Matt’s reunion with his co-star comes after David claimed he is ‘probably non-binary’ as he candidly opened up about his Sєxuality and gender idenтιтy.

The comedian and author, also admitted that he thinks life ‘might have been easier’ for him if he were gay.

He appeared on the Australian podcast Uncomfortable Conversations with Josh Szeps, where he made the revelations about himself.

David explained that if people used the same language as we do now when he was younger, he would have most-likely identified as non-binary.

He told the host: ‘I think in a way I’d probably say I am non-binary I think. I don’t know exactly.’

The comedian recalled: ‘It’s interesting because I had this girlfriend at the end of university and we used to go out.

‘I used to go out to gay clubs and dance for like six hours and I’d be wearing a skirt and stuff like that.

He added: ‘I think it’s interesting. I mean, I find change interesting. And I mean, you know, I wrote a book called The Boy in the Dress 15 years ago, which was sort of seen as a bit more daring then.

‘And it’s always something – I’ve always sort of felt like celebrating difference on, so I’ve always thought it’s exciting.’

Reflecting on his idenтιтy both now and in his younger years, he said: ‘I sort of think, where would I be positioning myself maybe, if I was now 19 or 20?

‘Because I went to Bristol University and did a drama degree. And I think that course is where you’re probably… if there’s a group of people who are going to be most interested in that sort of area, most drawn to that area, it’s probably going to be drama students.’

Later in the podcast, host Josh Szeps asked: ‘And what about your Sєxuality? You always lean into “Britain’s most famous bi-curious comedian” or something, was that a real reflection of your adolescence, did you fool around with guys?’

David responded: ‘Yeah, I’d say so. Yeah, so I was always at home with that as well. Sometimes I think my life would be a lot easier if I was just gay. Because I’m really drawn to gay things. I really like gay culture.’

Matt, 50, meanwhile irritated BBC Breakfast viewers after he repeatedly advertised his first novel on the show in December.

Naga Munchetty began the show by revealing Matt had written his first novel, a children’s book, saying: ‘This is your latest book. Well, this is the paperback version of your first novel.’

Asked why he had written a children’s book the comedian joked that if his long time friend David could do it, then so could he.

He told the show: ‘Well, I thought if [David] Walliams can do it, anyone can.’

He then joked that the pair were compeтιтive before complimenting his friend and calling him ‘the king’ and admitting he asked for advice before putting pen to paper.

The Little Britain star then held up his book, explaining the plot.

He told Naga and Charlie: ‘This book is a bit different. This is the Boy Who Slept Through Christmas.’

But before he could finish, the BBC hosts jumped in to tell the star off and explain he wasn’t allowed to advertise his new novel on the show.

Naga said: ‘You’re not allowed to do that.’

Charlie Stayt added: ‘You come on here, and you’re breaking the rules already. David Walliams wouldn’t do that, you know? He knows the rules.’

But Matt continued anyway, telling the breakfast show his novel was a musical in book form and even came with songs.

The ‘car crash’ interview came after the Arsenal fan hit out at players choosing not to wear rainbow-coloured armbands after revealing he had suffered homophobic abuse
