Boyzone documentary viewers lash out at Louis Walsh as they slam talent scout’s treatment of Stephen Gately and Mikey Graham

The explosive new Boyzone documentary was finally released on Sunday, featuring never-before-seen footage from the band’s heyday.

But since its release, Boyzone: No Matter What viewers have had some very harsh words to say about manager Louis Walsh’s treatment of band members Stephen Gateley and Mikey Graham.

One scene in particular called out by fans was where Louis recalled Stephen, who tragically died in 2009, being outed as gay in the British tabloids.

Viewers claimed the former The X Factor judge ‘smirked’ while speaking about the story and accused him of leaking it.

‘Dear god Louis walsh looking at the news headlines outting Stephen is stomach churning’ one viewer said.

Elsewhere in the documentary, the band members recall enduring ‘cruel’ times under Louis’s management while Ronan Keating later calls him ‘vicious’ and accuses him of ‘trying to ruin my career’.

Boyzone: No Matter What features never-before-seen footage of manager Louis and members, Mikey Graham, Ronan, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and the late Stephen, as well as interviews with those closest to the group.

But viewers were quick to share their thoughts on Louis, as they wrote on X, formerly Twitter: ‘After watching the documentary, I really think m that Louis Walsh had a hand in outing Stephen Gately. The glee on his face when he saw that news paper article was just vile, absolutely vile!’;

‘Louis Walsh is one toxic p***k. It would not be a surprise if he was the person who sold out Stephen Gately to the press. He looked disgustingly delighted by the article that cause Stephen so much pain. #Boyzone No Matter What,’;

‘I know practically nothing about #Boyzone but I well remember Louis Walsh…always made my skin crawl, but had no idea this is his idea of “promoting” And he sits there proud as a bloody peacock. Hideous ghoul,’;

‘What a loathsome little troll Louis Walsh is! My heart is breaking for how Boyzone were treated, especially how @MRMIKEYGRAHAM was just casually tossed aside,’;

‘Loved boyzone as a teenager. Huge huge fan. Watching this documentary was very hard. After watching Louis Walsh’s delight at the Stephen Gatleys coming out news paper article, you will never be able to convince me Louis Walsh is a good man #boyzone. Ronan is very right about him,’;

‘Dear god Louis walsh looking at the news headlines outting Steven is stomach churning,’;

‘Watching the #Boyzone documentary and Louis Walsh is a vile little creature. The smirk on his face. Absolute horrid little man,’;

‘Watching #Boyzone #NoMatterWhat Louis Walsh and Rav Singh are 2 vile human beings. Stephen and Mikey deserved so much better,’;

‘Louis Walsh. Wow. Comes across as completely vile!’

MailOnline has approached representatives for Louis for comment.

During the Sky show, the group admit they went through some ‘cruel’ times under the leadership of Louis.

Looking back at the early days of their career, Ronan Keating remarks in the trailer: ‘We were a bunch of kids put together. We weren’t perfect, we weren’t polished.’

Louis, who masterminded the lads’ career, then appears on screens with the scathing comment: ‘I prefer ordinary people, because they work harder. And they do whatever you want at the start.’

This was one of several comments made by the Irish manager aimed at the band throughout the clip, which comes amid a long-running feud with lead singer Ronan.

At one point in the trailer, Shane Lynch comments on working with Louis, stating that the former X Factor judge ‘promised us the sun, moon and stars.’

While Louis smugly suggests that he orchestrated the band’s huge publicity, quipping: ‘They believed their own publicity. They forgot I wrote it’.

Ronan lashed out at 'vicious' Louis Walsh and detailed Boyzone's 'toxic' infighting as he reflected on the band's bitter final days before splitting in Boyzone: No Matter What

Ronan lashed out at ‘vicious’ Louis Walsh and detailed Boyzone’s ‘toxic’ infighting as he reflected on the band’s bitter final days before splitting in Boyzone: No Matter What

During the Sky show, which waired on Sunday, Ronan – who pursued a solo career during the band’s hiatus – opened up about feuds within the band, as well as hitting out at manager Louis.

In 1999, while still a member of Boyzone, Ronan recorded a version of When You Say Nothing at All for the movie Notting Hill which peaked at number one in the UK charts and sparked his decision to pursue a solo career, meaning the band went on hiatus.

During this time, Ronan decided to keep Louis on as his manager but was left frustrated at the direction he was keeping his career on – with Ronan wanting to change the style of his music and write his own songs.

Lashing out at the music mogul, Ronan said: ‘He just got it wrong. He made the wrong choices. He didn’t know where the f**k I was!’

Hinting that Louis was more concerned with appearing on shows such as Pop Idol and The X Factor than managing him, he continued ‘Louis became a TV personality – he was given that chance because he was the manager of Boyzone.

‘Things started falling into place and you realise, Louis is not a great manager. I gave him multiple opportunities to fix things.

‘I have one sH๏τ at my career and he didn’t give a f**k, it fell on deaf ears.’

Hitting back, Louis insisted: ‘Ronan was a big middle of the road artist, he appealed to older women, that was his market, that was his line.

‘He said he didn’t want to be a karaoke artist and wanted to record and write his own songs and be a proper artist – that shocked me.’
