Strictly star Katya Jones has sparked fears she might be gearing up to quit the BBC show as she reportedly ‘feels betrayed’ by the Wynne Evans’ departure.

According to The Sun, the professional dancer, 35, feels let down by the corportation’s treatement of the opera singer, 53.

Wynne has agreed with the BBC to ‘take some time out’ from his radio show and the Strictly Come Dancing live tour ‘to prioritise my wellbeing’, he confirmed in a statement on Tuesday.

An insider told the publication: ‘Katya is really upset about what has happened and feel like it’s all been blown out of proportion.

‘She was shocked that bosses hauled Wynne in and feels like they have been thrown under the bus.

‘Her friends are worried this is making her fall out of love with the show and wonder if she will do it again next year. There is only so much drama she can take.’

It comes just after Wynne, famed for playing a portly Italian opera singer in a string of insurance ads for Go Compare, announced his departure from the tour in a grovelling statement following a string of scandals.

The BBC had previously refused to release a statement on whether or not he had been axed from the tour.

During his Strictly stint, he was accused of ‘groping’ Katya, although the pair dismissed it as a joke that had been misunderstood.

He’s more recently been embroiled in controversy after he was caught on film by The Mail on Sunday this month making a vile Sєxual comment about one of the show’s female hosts.

Amid the controversy, Wynne is taking a break from his BBC Wales radio show with comedian Robin Morgan, who has covered for him in the past, presenting in his place.

He is also reportedly trying to salvage his infamous spot with Go Compare, whom he has worked with since 2009, as he risks losing his six-figure salary.

And the Beeb has faced criticism from viewers over the decision to continued airing his new show All At Sea, which he co-hosts with Gavin & Stacey star Joanna Page.

It was reported that Wynne had separated from his events manager girlfriend Liz, 50, after she was left ‘humiliated’ by his latest scandal. The pair began dating last year following the break up of his 16-year marriage.

After his withdrawal, Katya took to social media to urge fans to ‘show humanity and compᴀssion’, adding: ‘I will miss you my darling boy.’

However according to reports, his pals are insistent that Wynne will weather the storm of the current scandal and will see his career recover.

They told the publication: ‘At the end of the day, he has been a bit of an oaf and made a stupid mistake but does he deserve such hatred?

‘Yes, using the term spit-roast was absolutely wrong, and he realises this. His problem is that he is a joker and he continually wants to play to the crowd. It’s just schoolboy comedy.’

The pal added: ‘Talk of his career ending is premature – at the end of the day, his radio show is very popular, and he is very much liked.’

While they added: ‘Wynne’s Strictly co-stars have all rallied and are backing him all the way. They all love Wynne and have a lot of time for him. 

‘Janette has nothing but affection for Wynne. They just want him to be alright.’
