Former Take That star Jason Orange ‘reveals surprising new career venture’ – after leaving the band for a quieter life over a decade ago

Take That star Jason Orange has reportedly undertaken a surprising new career venture, after he left the hugely successful band for a quieter life out of the spotlight back in 2014.

The former singer, 54, sH๏τ to fame as part of the original line-up of the pop group in 1990 alongside fan favourite Gary Barlow, 53, Howard Donald, 56, Robbie Williams, 50, and Mark Owen, 52.

Despite Jason insiting his bandmates were ‘like brothers to him,’ the singer bowed out of the group back in 2014 and has since remainded fairly under the radar.

However, The Sun has reported that the 90s star has now dipped his toes into a new career, becoming the co-owner of property business Nine The Firs and partnering with Leicester City football legend Neil Lennon.

A source told the publication: ‘Jason and Neil have known each other for a fair while and played in a charity football game together some years back.’

They explained: ‘Neil has a firm and Jason has come on board.

‘Jason prefers to live a quiet life out of the spotlight but has got a real flair for property.’

The source added that the star has already got stuck in and flogged a place to someone, with the customer reportedly saying he was ‘lovely’ and ‘professional’.

Jason quit the band back in 2014 after he admitted he had wanted out of the group for some time and had no desire to commit to recording and promoting a new album.

With Robbie also having exited the group in 1995, Gary, Mark and Howard continued as a successful trio.

Take That first returned to the music scene as a three-piece after a ten-year hiatus in 2006, but Jason was the only member of the band to steer clear of the music scene during their decade long break.

He opted instead to try his hand at acting in a variety of stage productions.

The star reportedly turned his back on the London party circuit, opting instead for quieter nights at low-key venues in and around his native Manchester.

Take That had another break and performed for the first time in four years at King Charles III’s Coronation Concert at Windsor Castle back in May 2023, however Jason didn’t reunite with his fellow band members.

Mark told The Times in June 2023: ‘I think [Jason] felt like he didn’t want to do it any more, but I’m not going to speak for him’.

Before going on to say: ‘He’s still here anyway. The other day we were trying to work out who the best joke-teller in the band is and remembered how Jason always laughed before he got to the punchline’.

Front man Gary previously told The Sun: ‘Jason isn’t coming back. Take That is Mark, Howard and me for the next few years.’

In 2018, Howard revealed that Jason had stopped responding to calls after going completely gone off the grid to live a ‘normal life’ in the countryside.

He told The Mirror: ‘Jason has gone off the grid. He’s not taking emails or phone calls or stuff like that. That’s good for him,’ he told the Loose Women panel.

‘That’s where he wants to be. I think he wants to be a million miles away from this at the moment.’

The star reportedly turned his back on the London party circuit, opting instead for quieter nights at low-key venues in and around his native Manchester.

Speaking about his bandmate in an interview with Metro, Gary also said: ‘We hear from Jason now and again.

‘Then when you reply the email doesn’t work. It’s bigger than we all know. Him cutting himself off from a life he just didn’t want any more.’

‘If you were 20 you would open the discussion up, but he is a grown man. You have to respect the fact he doesn’t want to do this. It was hard for us to watch him go.’

Gary also admitted that Jason ‘didn’t want any creative involvement’ and ‘wanted to leave’.
