Craig Revel Horwood announces Strictly tour show is CANCELLED – leaving thousands of fans gutted as Storm Eowyn batters the UK

Craig Revel Horwood has announced that a show on the ongoing Strictly tour has been cancelled – leaving thousands of fans gutted as Storm Eowyn batters the UK.

The Met Office has issued a rare red weather warning in Scotland, which means conditions are dangerous and winds could reach speeds of up to 100mph.

Now, the hit BBC One show’s UK production has been forced to cancel its Friday night show at Glasgow’s OVO Hydro.

However, bosses have attempted to quickly amend the situation by rescheduling the event to Sunday (26.01.25) instead.

Strictly’s longest-serving judge Craig – who stars in the show alongside his fellow panellists Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and Anton Du Beke – was the one to break the news.

He wrote on his Instagram Stories: ‘UPDATE. Sadly, Due to the red weather warning in place tomorrow, the Friday evening performance of Strictly Come Dancing The Live Tour will be rescheduled to Sunday evening, January 26.

‘If guests are unable to attend, they should contact their point of purchase for a refund. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.’

Ticket holders’ seats will remain valid for the new date and those who are unable to attend on January 26 can get a full refund through their original point of purchase.

Organisers of the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour – who have apologised for the inconvenience – have told fans to keep an eye out on the official ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ social media accounts for updates.

Celebrities including Miranda star Sarah Hadland, ex-Love Islander Tasha Ghouri and JLS member JB Gill are expected to get all sparkled up and perform their breathtaking routines once the production is back up and running.

The 2024 series champion Chris McCausland has not been taking part in the nationwide show because of his stand-up tour Yonks!

Meanwhile, the storm has caused mayhem across the British Isles today as 114mph winds cancelled 300 flights, shut hundreds of schools and halted all trains in Scotland.

Rare red warnings were issued for Scotland and Northern Ireland as the storm posed a danger to life – damaging buildings, uprooting trees and causing power cuts.

At least 334 flights have been axed at airports in Aberdeen, Belfast, Edinburgh and Glasgow due to the severe conditions, with about 50,000 pᴀssengers affected.

The top UK wind gust has been 93mph at Aberdaron in Gwynedd, Wales – while 114mph at Mace Head in the Republic of Ireland was the country’s fastest ever.

Hundreds of schools closed in Scotland, Wales and northern England today – while 715,000 homes, farms and businesses were without power across the Republic of Ireland, and a further 93,000 homes and business in Northern Ireland suffered cuts.

Train operator ScotRail suspended all services across Scotland today, insisting it ‘would not be safe to operate pᴀssenger services due to forecast weather conditions’.

Other train companies including LNER, Avanti West Coast, Lumo, CrossCountry and Grand Central told customers not to travel on routes across parts of North Wales, Scotland and northern England with no Anglo-Scots services running today.

Northern said many of its routes were shut because of severe weather, with lines blocked between Manchester and Warrington because of a fallen tree.

The Strictly tour cancellation comes after professional dancer Diane Buswell broke her silence on partner Chris McCausland missing the show’s live tour after it kicked off last week in Birmingham.

The dancer, 35, and comedian, 47, made history in December after he became the first blind contestant to win the coveted Glitterball trophy.

In her new YouTube Vlog Dianne admitted returning to the dance floor without her former partner was ‘really tough’ after he was forced to skip the shows due to his mammoth 250 dates Yonks! stand-up tour.

She said: ‘Chris can’t do [the tour]. It’s actually been really tough for me to see everyone else with their partners and to know that Chris can’t do it. It has been really tough,’

‘However, I’m really excited to still be a part of it and very very grateful for that. So y’know I’m counting my lucky stars there’.

The opening show kicked off at Birmingham’s Utilita Arena while Chris was taking to the stage just 12-miles away in Walsall.

Speaking in December, the comedy star confirmed to fans that he would not be taking to the dancefloor with Dianne once more.

He explained on X: ‘I’m afraid I will not be able to do the Strictly tour. My own tour was meant to be on the road in September and a lot of dates were moved to Jan and Feb to accommodate doing #Strictly.

‘It’s unfortunate as it’s been so much fun, but my own dates can’t be moved for a second time.’
