Beat The Chasers fans open-mouthed as contestant shatters show records with six-figure win after nail-biting finale – raving ‘this is premium television!’

A record six-figure win on ITV’s Beat the Chasers left fans open-mouthed last night.

Contestant Jamie, from London, took on five Chasers Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan, Mark Labbett and Shaun Wallace to battle for a whopping prize.

The hairdresser had played an impressive cash builder round and triggered an applause from the audience when he made the decision to gamble and go for the huge £100,000 offer.

‘I think I can beat five chasers,’ Jamie said to host Bradley Walsh before he went head to head with them.

He had 60 seconds while the Chasers had 39 seconds on the clock and Jamie managed to win with eight seconds remaining.

Bradley asked Jamie his final question before the timer ran out on the Chasers, ‘Comet and fantail are varieties of what pet fish?’

To which he correctly responded: ‘Goldfish.’

Viewers took to social media to share their amazement and to congratulate Jamie on the impressive win.

It comes after viewers ripped into the show after a ‘harsh and ridiculous’ opening question during last week’s episode.

Contestant Ray took on Mark Labbett, Shaun Wallace, Anne Hegerty, Paul Sinha, Jenny Ryan and Darragh Ennis in a bid to win some money.

Host Bradley Walsh read out his first question which read: ‘In 1894, Queen Victoria bought an oil painting by Daniel Mytens of “Charles I and Henrietta Maria Departing for…” what?’

Shortly after asking it he shouted: ‘What is that for a first question?!’

The TV star then shared the three possible answers: The Chase, The Apprentice and The Twilight Zone.

Ray confessed: ‘I haven’t got a clue.’

Despite that, he went for it and decided to go with the last option, The Twilight Zone.

Unfortunately Ray got it wrong as it was in fact The Chase.

Bradley told him: ‘Oh Ray. I am so sorry mate.’

Those watching at home all flocked to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their frustrations for the player.

Beat The Chasers airs on ITV and is available to stream on ITVX.
