Winterwatch leaves viewers blushing with ‘rudest chat ever’ as Michaela Strachan and Chris Packham lower the tone with ‘pure filth’ joke live on air

Winterwatch left viewers blushing by the ‘rudest chat ever’ after Michaela Strachan and Chris Packham lowered the tone with a ‘pure filth’ joke live on air.

The third instalment of the BBC show returned to our screens on Thursday evening.

Michaela and Chris were presenting live at Dorset Nature Reserve when they introduced fans to co-star Iolo Williams, 62, who was a couple of miles down the road at Sunnyside Farm.

The two explained that he was going to talk about some very special birds – woodcocks.

lolo confessed that he really wanted to get his hands on the species.

As he went back to his co-stars at the RSPB Arne, Michaela said: ‘Exciting isn’t it, he could have a woodcock in his hand.

‘I bet you’ve got FOMO over that.

‘You’d love to have a woodcock in your hand, wouldn’t you?’

A confused Chris asked what FOMO means and Michaela explained: ‘Fear of missing out.

‘It’s what all the young people say.’

Those watching at home were in hysterics over Michaela’s outrageous comment and took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to point it out.

One said: ‘Pure filth. #winterwatch.’

Another tweeted: ‘Looks like Chris and Michaela have started early #woodcock #winterwatch.’

A third chimed in: ‘Rudest chat so far! #WinterWatch.’

Meanwhile others took to the platform to share how much they enjoyed the instalment.

One tweeted: ‘Really enjoyed #Winterwatch, especially the snipe and bees.’

Another wrote: ‘Brilliant,’ with a love heart.

‘Winterwatch should be on for two weeks,’ a third said.

A fourth fumed: ‘Why only 4 days??? Why not two weeks or three weeks??? 4 days is not enough.’

Fans will be gutted to know that there is only one episode left of this year’s Winterwatch.

The final episode will air this evening on BBC Two at 8:00pm.

But there’s some good news, as Springwatch will be back at the end of May.

lolo made a return to the show after having an unexpected heart attack last year.

Speaking on BBC Morning Live, lolo explained: ‘It was very unexpected. I was going on one of my regular runs, two or three times a week, five or six miles.

‘Four and a half miles into the run in the middle of nowhere, all of a sudden I had extreme pain underneath my breast bone.

‘I knew what it was. It was a heart attack – nothing else it could be. But it was a mile and a half from my vehicle. I had to walk on, I had to reach the car.’

Spring Watch airs on BBC Two and is available to stream on iPlayer.
