As the highly-anticipated finale of The Traitors nears, it has been revealed just who inspired Charlotte’s fake Welsh accent. 

Amanda, who took part in the BBC’s first series of The Traitors – was a fan favourite traitor before she was betrayed by her fellow villain and banished by the faithfuls when her deception was uncovered.

However, on Thursday she revealed that her Welsh accent inspired this year’s finalist Charlotte, who is the last remaining traitor in the game. 

Charlotte, a business director from Hampshire, has painted herself as a sunny character from Wales, quickly forming friendships throughout the series helped by her ‘trusting accent’.  

However, she was quick to reveal in the first episode in her confessional that she wasn’t from Wales, quickly switching from her Valleys tone to her real London accent.

Charlotte said she hoped that being Welsh would paint in a more Faithful-friendly light which has so far worked in her favour as she became the only remaining traitor to make the 2025 final after she was recruited by Minah last week.

Now Amanda has revealed to Scott McGlynn, who played James Corden’s stag in Gavin & Stacey during his fifth series of talk show Celebrity Skin Talk, that she inspired the accent. 

She said: ‘She’s playing it very well, and she voice noted me saying I inspired her to have her fake welsh accent, which was very sweet.

‘She’s doing a great job doing it till the end.’

In a new interview ahead of the final, Charlotte has admitted that keeping up the fake accent has been ‘exhausting’ and she might have ‘permanently rewired her brain’.

She said: ‘I have learned that if I ever do another TV show, I probably, most definitely, won’t do it with a fake Welsh accent. It has been exhausting, and I think I may have permanently rewired my brain. But perhaps it has paid off after all?!’

Charlotte continued: ‘But seriously, behind the chatty façade I am quite a self-doubter and this whole experience has been something I’m truly proud of myself for. 

‘I’ve built genuine relationships with the other players and been able to show people my true self – even within a game of deception. 

‘I’m proud of my resilience when I’ve defended myself at the Round Table and really tried to play the game in its truest sense.’

It comes after The Traitors’ penultimate episode kicked off with the most tense breakfast in the show’s history, as viewers furiously slammed Charlotte for ‘backstabbing’ her ally Freddie.

Thursday’s show kicked off with the Faithfuls learning that the Traitors had tried to murder Leanne, but failed due to the fact she’d won a shield in the previous day’s mission.

Given that Leanne had only told a select few that she had a shield, Freddie quickly realised that this put suspicion on him as a Traitor, as Charlotte had failed to tell him during their discussion in the turret.

This led to some terse words, with Leanne furious she’d been targeted as a murder victim, and she quickly shared her opinions with the other Faithfuls.

It also left Freddie hell-bent on exposing Charlotte as a Traitor, while she attempted to pin the blame on Alexander, insisting he’d been behaving ‘erratically.’ 

Fans agreed, and were quick to slam Charlotte for ‘throwing Freddie under the bus,’ and some declared he ‘wasn’t cut out’ to be a Traitor.

Later, Freddie became the latest traitor to be banished during the round table before Claudia revealed that Frankie had banked the most gold and won the seer.

Frankie had a huge decision to make as she could call one other player to join her in Claudia’s chambers to reveal their true idenтιтy as ether a faithful or traitor. 

The smash hit show was left on a huge cliff hanger as Frankie chose traitor Charlotte to reveal her true idenтιтy to her but, fans will have to wait for her reaction.
