Zendaya fans are up in arms after the actress was left out of the Oscars compeтιтion for her role in Challengers, with one insisting the star had been ‘robbed’ of a nomination. 

The 28-year-old played tennis star Tashi Duncan in the sports drama and even received a Golden Globe nomination for her work, but her name was absent when the Oscar nominations were announced Thursday morning. 

And it wasn’t just Zendaya who was snubbed – the entire Challengers film failed to receive a single Oscar nod. 

X users called out the Academy for neglecting to nominate the Luca Guadagnino-directed film, in particular for failing to recognize Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, who both composed the film’s music.

‘Zendaya got robbed real bad for challengers now she’ll never do anything close to a comedy movie anytime soon,’ one posted.

‘No challengers nomination is actually crazy they hate to see a tennis throuple and zendaya looking H๏τ,’ one wrote.

Another ‘fell to my knees’ after realizing the Academy had awarded Dune: Part Two, another film starring Zendaya, five nominations and none for Challengers. 

‘zendaya is going to the oscar’s for dune and not challengers… fell to my knees,’ another wrote.

One fan called the snub for Zendaya and the film’s composers ‘evil.’ 

‘No noms for Challengers is baffling to me, insanely electric filmmaking with an unbeatable screenplay that drives that movie. Best sH๏τ film of the year too. No nods for score is evil. No nods for Zendaya is especially evil.’ 

‘how is challengers not nominated in a SINGLE category.. oh luca guadagnino oh my zendaya im so sorry,’ one wrote.

‘Also how tf did challengers get completely shutout NO score no zendaya there’s others but like what the hell NOTHING?!!!! Crazy to me. Somehow wicked gets in best score tho…… absolutely stupid Trent and Atticus deserve better that score was phenomenal,’ another wrote. 

‘I cannot believe Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross weren’t nominated for best original score (not even mentioning that Challengers wasn’t nominated at all),’ another posted.  

While the film is not in contention for an Oscar, it has already won numerous awards – including a Golden Globe for Best Original Score for Reznor and Ross.

Zendaya was also nominated for a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, which she lost. 

Challengers has a chance for more awards glory at the upcoming Critics’ Choice Awards, where it is up for numerous awards – including Best Score and Song.

The Oscar nominations were originally set to be announced on January 17, but voting was extended by a week due to the LA fires.

The award ceremony will take place as scheduled on March 2 at Hollywood’s Dolby Theatre, with Conan O’Brien taking on hosting duties for the first time.

The nominees for best actor are: Adrien Brody, ‘The Brutalist’; Timothée Chalamet, ‘A Complete Unknown’; Colman Domingo, ‘Sing Sing’; Ralph Fiennes, ‘Conclave’; Sebastian Stan, ‘The Apprentice.’

The nominees for best actress are: Demi Moore, ‘The Substance’; Cynthia Erivo, ‘Wicked’; Mikey Madison, ‘Anora’; Karla Sofía Gascón, ‘Emilia Pérez’; Fernanda Torres, ‘I´m Still Here’.

The nominees for original song are: ‘El Mal’ from ‘Emilia Perez’; ‘The Journey’ from ‘The Six Triple Eight’; ‘Like a Bird’ from ‘Sing Sing’; ‘Mi Camino’ from ‘Emilia Pérez’; ‘Never Too Late’ from ‘Elton John: Never Too Late.’
