EXCLUSIVEOlly Murs leaves fan swearing in outrage with hilarious family tree prank in first look at Michael McIntyre’s Big Show

Olly Murs left a fan open-mouthed with a hilarious family tree prank in a sneak peek of Michael McIntyre’s Big Show.

The hit BBC One and iPlayer series is back for its eighth season, promising more big laughs, celebrity guests, and jaw-dropping surprises.

Filmed in front of a live audience, the entertainment extravaganza is set to feature an array of superstar moments, with singing sensation Olly among the latest stars confirmed.

In a first-look clip, a couple named Ruth and Rupert are shown in their living room, seemingly watching Olly on a fake episode of Who Do You Think You Are?.

Sitting in the back of a taxi, Olly says to the camera: ‘I’ve always wondered about my roots. There are so many things I’ve never quite understood about who I am.

‘I know I’m from EsSєx, but I’ve always been intrigued by this connection to South Yorkshire.’

Ruth watches in disbelief as Olly continues saying: ‘Some of my best career moments were in Leeds and Sheffield, performing on stage.

‘It’s crazy to think there might be people in the audience who don’t even know they’re related to me.’

The clip cuts to Ruth and Rupert exchanging shocked glances on their sofa.

Olly is then shown meeting an expert who presents him with a fake census document revealing Ruth and Rupert as his distant relatives.

Ruth immediately exclaims at the TV: ‘Are you winding me up? I’m going to have to record this. You’re winding me up!’

The ‘expert’ then humorously identifies Ruth as an estate agent and Rupert as a steelworker — coincidentally, their actual professions.

As the prank unfolds, Olly visits another historian, who is actually Michael McIntyre in disguise.

The historian claims to have uncovered a love letter from one of Olly’s ‘ancestors’, Ursula.

Olly says to the camera: 'I've always wondered about my roots. There are so many things I've never quite understood about who I am. 'I know I'm from EsSєx, but I've always been intrigued by this connection to South Yorkshire'

Referring to a line from Olly’s hit song, he jokes that despite his own heart condition, reading the letter made his heart ‘skip, skip, skip a beat’.

Ruth, growing increasingly suspicious, points out: ‘Those are his lyrics!’ before blurting out: ‘Are they taking the p*ss?’

It comes after Michael revealed a major change to his popular programme Big Show.

The stand-up comedy programme hit our screens in 2015 and has gone on to air seven successful series.

He said: ‘The big news is that we have a new item called Remember Me, where a celebrity sits in the Royal Box and a person from any time in their past appears on stage.’

He added: ‘It could be anyone from the midwife who birthed them, to a holiday romance or the driver who bought them to the theatre.

There are some pretty big names that are taking part in the upcoming season.

And the funnyman has teased exactly who viewers can expect to turn up for the ride.

Michael added: ‘As well as Alan Carr, Miranda Hart and Holly Willoughby playing Remember Me, we have Michael Sheen, Judi Love and Tony Bellew playing Send to All.

‘We have more amazing Unexpected Star Stars who had no idea they were going to be on the series but are each sensational, including Heather Small, Marti Pellow and Justin Hawkins.

‘It’s also a vintage year for Midnight Gameshows with Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott both being surprised at the same time, Josh Widdicombe and more – all are totally hilarious.

‘And there are loads of celebrity cameos helping me with surprises including Jamie Oliver, Olly Murs and Luke Littler. It’s a jam-packed series!’
