She revealed earlier this month that she had lost her home in Altadena amid the devastating fires roiling parts of Los Angeles.

And Mandy Moore gave her 5.5 million Instagram followers an update on her mental state on Wednesday night after she had to return to the area to take her youngest child, four-month-old daughter Lou, to a doctor’s appointment.

The 40-year-old This Is Us star revealed that the journey near the rubble that was once her family home left her ‘sob[bing]’ during the car ride in the caption to a sweet video of her son Gus cradling baby Lou in his lap.

While losing her home was hard enough, Moore has also had to deal with angry fans on social media who blasted her for sharing a fundraising link to help her family members whose home had also been destroyed in the LA fires.

‘Now that the adrenaline has subsided, reality has a sharper focus and the anxiety manages to nestle in nightly,’ Mandy began to update her fans in her latest post’s caption.

‘I’m trying my best to be present for them,’ she said of her three young children. ‘I’m failing a lot of the time, tucked into my phone answering impossible questions, trying to keep the ship afloat while swimming in a pool of grief. With a shorter fuse.’

She added that the ‘pain and unease’ she felt left her feeling unmoored from her ‘family … friends …. [and] community.’ 

Moore revealed that it was a trip back near her destroyed home in Altadena that left her in tears.

‘[I] just kept repeating, “Oh My God”, over and over as I choked back sobs,’ she admitted. 

The singer-turned-actress said she would have ‘more to say down the road,’ but she was simply too exhausted after her traumatic day.

But Moore took some solace in the fact that her children weren’t old enough yet to comprehend the enormity of everything their family had lost in the fire. 

‘There’s a definitive line that has left an indelible mark on my life but somehow these guys think we’re on the best adventure and I intend to keep it that way,’ she declared, adding that the cute video showed ‘Goosey [Gus] keeping his sister entertained.

The little boy looked adorable in a set of Spider-Man pajamas, while baby Lou wore a cute green striped onesie and reclined against him.

He quoted Toy Story’s Buzz Lightyear, saying, ‘Infinity and beyond!’

Mandy’s home was standing but unlivable after the fire, and she revealed earlier this this month that they also ‘lost Taylor and [brother] griffin’s studio with every instrument and piece of equipment they’ve ever owned,’ as well as their ‘garage and back house’

Then Gus put his mouth to Lou’s ear and asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up.

‘You wanna be a policeman?’ he asked his sister, who remained silent.

‘Lou said she wants to be a police officer and drive a police car,’ he hilariously reported back to his mom.

But Gus seemed to have been inspired by the recent fires, because he declared he wanted to be a ‘firefighter.’ 

‘I would get all the firefighter stuff,’ including the protective jacket, helmet and firefighting truck, he said before the video cut off.

In addition to Gus and Lou, Mandy and Taylor share their one-year-old middle son, Ozzie. 

Since being forced to evacuate, Mandy and her husband Taylor Goldsmith, 39, have been living with their friends Hilary Duff and her husband Matthew Koma, both 37.

After Mandy and Taylor were able to return to ᴀssess the damage, she reported in an Instagram post surveying the rubble that they found that the main portion of the home was still standing, at least temporarily, but it was no longer in livable condition.

‘We lost Taylor and griffin’s studio with every instrument and piece of equipment they’ve ever owned,’ she continued. ‘We lost our garage and back house. Everyone we know lost everything. Every house on our street is gone. My in laws. My brother and sister in law- 6 weeks from welcoming their first baby. Our best friends.’ 

She noted how ‘weird’ it felt to experience ‘survivors guilt,’ but shared her dedication to help ‘rebuild and support’ her neighbors.
