Kim Kardashian’s former hairstylist Jen Atkin has revealed that she and her family plan to move out of California after losing their Malibu mansion in the devastating LA fires.

The 44-year-old Glamour columnist revealed shortly after the fire broke out in nearby Pacific Palisades that the area where their home was located had been ‘demolished’ in the blaze.

In text post updates shared to her Insta Stories, Atkin revealed ‘how we’re doing.’

She said she had ‘been going btwn “loss” and “lucky” all day every day’ for the past two weeks.

‘The adrenaline + my sister’s help got our family to a H๏τel, clean air + finally safety in Seattle,’ she wrote.

Atkin added that she felt ‘overwhelming survivor’s guilt leaving our city we love and not being on the ground to help,’ which led her to question if she was ‘making the right decision.’

Those feelings were followed by ‘intense fatigue’ as life started to slow down, to the point that just getting dinner ready or finding new clothes and supplies ‘felt impossible.’

It didn’t make things any easier that they were ‘bombarded with insurance questions’ just hours after their home burned down. She said they ‘needed to hurry to get a lease’ and ‘find an architect for plans to submit quickly if we want to rebuild.’

‘It’s all so manic and you can’t think straight,’ Atkin complained.

According to the Robb Report, Atkin’s recently destroyed four-bedroom/four-bathroom home was a Tuscan-influenced mansion with a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean that had been designed by the renowned architect Marc Appleton and built in the early 2000s.

The two-story home was situated on 1.3 acres that also included a detached two-car garage and small guest studio. The property featured other luxuries, such as a swimming pool, a full-size tennis court and large patios that surround the mansion.

Before moving to Malibu, Atkin and Rosenthal had owned a $4.5 million home in Tarzana that they bought in 2021. They managed to flip the house, which was constructed in 2017, for $6.2 million.

In the days since losing her mansion, Atkin wrote that her family was seeing horrific stories of other people who had been displaced, many of whom weren’t wealthy like her.

She said she had 'been going btwn

She called the whole process ’emotionally draining’ and said they were in ‘disbelief.’

Atkin added that her husband’s 86-year-old father had also lost his home in the fire.

‘Their dreams and plans just gone,’ she said of her neighbors who lost their homes too.

Despair gave way to anger as she wondered, ‘How the f*** did our city burn to the ground? How did so many lose so much so quickly? How were so many friends panicked and evacuated all over LA?’

She asked how her family had not been ‘prepared,’ and she questions how they could ‘ever feel safe again.’

However, Atkin said she still planned for an ‘LA commute’ to her offices, which would likely mean many trips from one end of the country to the other via plane.

Despite giving up on living in LA, she said she planned to use her ‘platform to help rebuild and heal the great city of Los Angeles.’

‘It’s made so many of mine and Mike’s dreams come true and we will forever be in her debt,’ the celebrity hairstylist wrote.

Atkin said she was delighted to find that some fire victims were managing to find some joy in life again.

She noted that she had ‘lost faith in our leadership but gained so much love for our community.’

‘We truly only have each other in disasters,’ she concluded, before thanking her friends and followers for their ‘love and concern.’
