Big Boys will draw to a close this year and earlier this month its creator issued an emotional message to fans.
The hilarious series landed in 2022 with a popular opening run consisting of six half-hour-long episodes, which saw it gain a flawless 100 per cent rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Big Boys then returned for a second season, which went down just as well with critics and viewers alike, with fans citing its snappy script and the actors’ comic timing.
The series followed university students Jack, played by Dylan, and Danny, played by Jon Pointing, as they negotiated the ups and downs of campus life.
The pair formed a valuable friendship at Brent Uni against the odds and the series was praised for its exploration of mental health and LGBTQ+ issues.
Ahead of the airing of its third and final season in February, the comedy’s creator and narrator Jack penned an emotional statement about the show’s history and development.
He said: ‘Ten years ago, I took a rather ramshackle comedy-theatre hour about grief and friendship to a damp cave at the Edinburgh Fringe and never thought a decade later it’d be a silly, sweet lil sitcom about a lad’s lad and a dweeby gay becoming best mates.
‘My therapist (a close lesbian friend) suggested that Big Boys is subconsciously about me not being able to say a proper goodbye to certain people or periods of my life, and so to give this show a final send-off is a huge honour.

‘I’ll be indebted to them always for giving me the funniest, happiest years making Big Boys 1-3. Thank you!’

The farewell season promises more hysterical twists and turns as students Jack and Danny enter their third year at the university.
