Lake took to Instagram on January 9 with a detailed series of posts chronicling the destruction of her Malibu home amid the ongoing California wildfires.

Lake said that January 9 was the day she and Burningham lost their home in the blazes, documenting the timeline of events.

‘If I am anything at all, I am a f’ing survivor,’ Lake said in text on a somber selfie.

Lake said that 11:24 a.m. January 7, she saw ‘early signs of smoke in Temescal Canyon,’ leading her and Burningham to set up a fire defense system they had on hand which included sprinklers.

By 4:10 p.m. January 7, Lake said Burningham used a hose to extinguish a blaze on a palm tree on their neighbors’ property.

The Hastings-on-Hudson, New York-born star said that two hours later, Burningham tried to ‘siphon gas for the fire defense system motor,’ which ‘didn’t work.’

Lake said that by 6:55 p.m., she and Burningham faced the question ‘Do we stay or do we go?’

Lake said she and her spouse judged the merits of trying to save the home against their physical safety amid the windy night fires.

Lake said, ‘We finally surrendered our efforts and left our home at 8:02 p.m.,’ and were ‘grateful to have made it out alive and uninjured.’

She added, ‘No doubt had we stayed, we would not have survived.’

Lake shared dashcam footage of her exit down Malibu’s curvy roads at night.
