The Traitors stars threatened with fine of ‘hundreds of thousands of pounds’ if they break secret BBC rule behind the scenes of show

The Traitors star Jaz Singh has revealed that contestants are threatened with a fine of ‘hundreds of thousands of pounds’ if they break a secret BBC rule behind the scenes of the show.

Series three of the programme was filmed back in May 2024, but has only just hit our screens.

So this means that the contestants have to keep schtum about their stint on the show for over half a year.

Now Jaz, 32 – who took part season two – has confirmed that they all have to sign a nondisclosure agreement to make sure nothing is spoilt for viewers.

Jaz told The Sun: ‘You have to get a ton of stuff prepared.

‘How you’re going to deliver this information to various family members to keep this a secret, because you’re under an NDA.

‘And they will sue you for hundreds of thousands of pounds of TV damages if this gets leaked.’

He added: ‘So it is such a tactful process, and then to get on eventually, it’s mind-blowing.

‘You are playing the game before you even enter that castle, before you even get a tap on the shoulder, before you put them blindfolds on, before Claudia says “hello”.’

Account manager Jaz took part in the second series, which aired on BBC last year and was dubbed ‘Jazatha Christie’ after his stint on the programme.

Fans were impressed with his detective skills as he made it all the way to the final three, ending up against Traitor Harry Clark and Faithful Mollie Pearce.

Jaz nearly won the show, but then Mollie decided to stick with her pal and ended up letting a Traitor go home with all the money.

During a chat with Zoe Ball on BBC Radio 2 last year, host Zoe explained how everybody watching wanted him to take Harry down.

Jaz said: ‘The thing is…

‘He [Harry] was so protected by everybody, that I thought, the only time I’m going to be able to take him down is right at the end when there is very few numbers.

‘Because that is when that barrier will be removed and  there will be no protection.

‘So there was only Mollie to protect him, and unfortunately Mollie did protect him.’

Despite being an incredible Faithful, he never wanted to be one.

Speaking with content creator Wilfred Webster, Jaz said: ‘I didn’t want to be a Faithful.

‘But it was almost like I had to really appreciate the fact that I’d been given this opportunity and it was now my time to graft and put the work in.’

The account manager also revealed why he wanted to apply for the popular show.

Jaz previously said: ‘I think it was my in-laws to be honest, they were halfway through an episode of series one and said to me and the missus, “Have you watched this? Sit down with us and watch this right now.”

‘We watched it, looked at each other and said, “This is just amazing.”

‘I liked everything about it.

‘Obviously, we then watched the whole series and it totally resonated with everything I’ve been through.

‘After watching, I never thought there was going to be A) a second series, B) that I was going to apply, and C) I was going to be selected.

‘It’s like the stars have aligned themselves.

‘I’m a bit cheesy and I think everything happens for a reason but, genuinely, everything just feels right.’

The Traitors series three final hits our screens this Friday.

Armani, Elen, Leon, Ale, Nathan, Linda, Dan, Tyler, Kasim, has been banished, while Maia, Lisa, Anna, Fozia, Livi, Keith and Yin were murdered.

Alex, Charlotte, Francesca, Freddie, Jake, Joe, Leanne and Minah are left to battle it out for the prize fund.

The Traitors continues this Wednesday at 8pm on BBC One and is available to stream on iPlayer.
