David Lynch’s children honored their dad in a sweet joint statement following his death earlier this week as they invited his fans to join them in remembering the late filmmaker, who died just days before birthday. 

In their post, the siblings described their ‘beloved’ dad as a ‘guiding light of creativity, love, and peace.’

‘On Monday, January 20th—what would have been his 79th birthday—we invite you all to join us in a worldwide group meditation at 12:00pm NOON PST for 10 minutes,’ they shared in a group statement on X and on their individual social media accounts. 

‘Let us come together, wherever we are, to honor his legacy by spreading peace and love across the world.’ the said, inviting others to ‘Please take this time to meditate, reflect, and send positivity into the universe.’

‘Thank you for being part of this celebration of his life. Love, Jennifer, Austin, Riley and Lula Lynch.’

Lynch was married multiple times and shared children with each of his former wives.

‘Jennifer, 56, is the progeny from his first marriage to Peggy Reavey. She has followed in her father’s creative footsteps as a writer and director. 

Lynched shared Austin, 42, with his second wife Mary Fisk. He acted in a few of his father’s productions as a child before focusing of writing and directing as well.

Riley, 33, was born to Lynch and his third wife Mary Sweeney.

In addition to directing, Riley has focused on composing music. 

Lula is 12 and has lived with her mother Emily Stofle following her parents’ divorce in 2023. 

 Fans of the late director welcomed the opportunity to participate in the worldwide event. ‘Your dad is the very reason I began practicing meditation. My diet is deliberately similar,’ wrote one fan. 

In a 2001 interview with LA Weekly, Lynch described what he ate in a day. ‘Now, I have cappuccino in the morning, many coffees during the day, and salad that’s put in a Cuisinart so each bite tastes the same,’ he said.

‘No meat. This has got nuts and eggs and some lettuce and different kinds of greens. So it’s a little bowl of Cuisinart salad with Parmesan cheese on top,’ he said of his midday meal.

One fan shared that Lynch was the reason they had begun meditating, and that they also had patterned their own diet after the late director’s 

An admirer shared a comment Lynch had made about his own meditation practice in response to the invitation to join in the global meditation

Another mourned not knowing what else Lynch had in store for his fans

‘And then at night I have a block of Parmesan cheese, maybe a 2-inch cube, and red wine.’ 

Another fan shared a quote from the Blue Velvet director regarding his practice. 

‘I started Transcendental Meditation in 1973 and have not missed a single meditation ever since. Twice a day, every day,’ the Twin Peaks creator said.

‘It has given me effortless access to unlimited reserves of energy, creativity and happiness deep within.’   

‘He gave so much, maybe to (sic) much for one person,’ wrote a fan, calling Lynch ‘A true one of a kind genius! Just bummed to not see what he had planned,’ perhaps referring to any future projects the busy creator had in the works at the time of his pᴀssing.
