Strictly’s Jamie Borthwick reveals secret struggle he faced during the show – and admits if he wasn’t voted out, continuing would have been ‘next to impossible’

Strictly star Jamie Borthwick has revealed a secret struggle he faced whie competing on the BBC dance show.

The EastEnders star, 30 was eliminated in week 10 after landing in the dreaded dance off for the first time ever, against Montell Douglas and Johannes Radebe.

However, the soap actor has now admitted that if they had got through, continuing on the programme would have been ‘next to impossible’ anyway.

In a new interview with The Mirror, Jamie admitted that he was struggling to juggle his commitments to Strictly with his job at EastEnders.

As the studios for both shows are close to each other, the actor decided to keep doing his day job while rehearsing and performing on the BBC programme.

But, there came a point where it got more difficult and he was worried he may not be able to keep it up.

Jamie told the publication: ‘We had moments when it was easier than others. Our last week when we left the show was a very difficult week.

‘If we had have got through that week, it would have been next to impossible. We made the best out of it, we worked so hard together and we got through it.’

Fans were left furious after Jamie and his professional partner Michelle Tsiakkas left the compeтιтion and they criticised the judges’ decisions to ‘constantly down-mark’ the actor.

Although he was gracious in his defeat, viewers of the show were left seething at the decision to send Jamie home and complained they were ‘absolutely gutted’ that the actor was booted off before the quarter finals.

But, Jamie also admitted that since ending his stint on the programme, he’s never been too far from Michelle.

He told the newspaper: ‘We haven’t left each others side since we got out. I haven’t missed her because we have spoke everyday.’

And now the duo are heading on the Strictly Live Tour together, meaning they will be spending even more time in each other’s company.

All the female pros and celebs matched in gold dresses for the glam shoot on Thursday, whilst the boys dazzled in unʙuттoned blue waistcoasts to show off their abs.

This time, Jamie has confirmed he will be taking a break from filming EastEnders so he can fully commit to the live shows.

The Strictly tour starts in Birmingham this weekand will be judged by Strictly panel Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Revel Horwood and, for the first time, Motsi Mabuse.

The tour will also see its first ever trio as Amy Dowden will be supported by Lauren Oakley on the Live Tour meaning both women will perform alongside JB Gill.

The Welsh star, 34, has returned to the dancefloor after being rushed off the BBC flagship show three months ago when she was ‘taken ill’ and it was later revealed she had suffered an insufficiency stress fracture in her shin.

Speaking to MailOnline about her return, she said: ‘I feel like Amy again in 2025. My energy levels are different, I’m super excited.

‘To be back on tour, to be able to dance with JB again after our journey was cut so unexpectedly short, but also to be part of a team it’s just a great way to start 2025.’
