Kelly Clarkson fans are all saying the same thing after she covers Chappell Roan song on her show

Kelly Clarkson showed off her singing chops on Thursday’s episode of her self-тιтled talk show.

The 42-year-old 2002 American Idol winner — whose son Remy recently went viral — performed a powerful rendition of Chappell Roan’s, 26, Red Wine Supernova for her ‘Kellyoke’ segment, wowing fans.

After the flawless performance, viewers went online to agree that Clarkson’s version of the flirty, punchy pop song overshadowed the original.

One person wrote on social media app X, ‘Nobody should allow her to cover their songs cuz she eats them up every time.’

Another weighed in, ‘If I [were] an artist, my only stipulation would be that Kelly Clarkson is never allowed to cover my songs.’

The person added, ‘She’s too f*****g amazing and kills it every time.’

A different fan wrote online, ‘I’ve been DYING for her to cover Billie Eilish’s The Greatest (or Wildflower),’ adding, ‘I KNOW she would murder the belting parts in both of those tracks.’

Kelly caused a similar stir last September when she covered Chappell’s Good Luck, Babe! with Miranda Lambert and guitarist Jaco Caraco for a stripped down acoustic performance.

At the time, Instagram user @crispy205 wrote: ‘I want a radio station where Kelly sings all the songs instead of the original singers lol!’

‘We need a Chappell duet with Kelly!’ another user demanded.

Meanwhile, @johngymnast added: ‘Again Kelly proves she has the best vocals in the universe! 100% crushed it again. And again. And again!’

‘This sounds so good omg Kelly and her immaculate vocals with Miranda’s alto voice. Damn,’ someone else commented.

Another person wrote: ‘And this is another example of why Kelly Clarkson will be forever one of the greatest vocalist of all time. We love you.’

‘Now I know the words!’ one person commented, explaining, ‘[I] couldn’t figure out what that lady was saying! They sing it better that u can understand it!’

Explaining what inspired her to write Red Wine Supernova, Roan told Flood Magazine in May 2023, ‘I needed a campy gay girl song that captured the magic of having feelings for another girl.’

The singer-songwriter noted, ‘I packed the song with fun raunchy lyrics that make it feel like a night out flirting with the girl across the bar.’

Hailing from Missouri, she’s earned six 2025 Grammy nominations, including a Best New Artist nod.

Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is also nominated for Album of the year and Best Pop Vocal Album.

Additionally, Good Luck, Babe! is nominated for Song of the Year, Record of the Year and Best Pop Solo Performance.
