Celine Dion pays tribute to late husband René Angélil on what would have been his 83rd birthday

Celine Dion celebrated what would have been her late husband René Angélil’s 83rd birthday on Thursday.

The 56-year-old singer — who shared an uplifting New Year’s post earlier this month — paid tribute to her spouse in an Instagram post shared with her nearly nine million followers.

The Canadian-born star posted a black and white portrait of Angélil, who was also her manager, and added a heartfelt caption.

‘Today is your birthday, but the date doesn’t matter because there isn’t a day that we aren’t celebrating life with you. You are a part of us every day in the memories we cherish,’ she wrote.

The couple shared three sons — René-Charles, 23, and twins Nelson and Eddy, 14.

She added in the note, ‘While going through all the years of pictures and videos that consistently keep you alive, we hear your voice, we see your gestures and we adore your spirit.’

Days earlier she used her social media platform to mark the anniversary of his death, which was caused by throat cancer.

The My Heart Will Go On hitmaker shared a pH๏τo with her and her sons matching in white and ivory outfits as they sat in front of Christmastime decor.

‘René, we can’t believe you’ve been gone nine years already. Not a day goes by that we don’t feel your presence, RC, Eddy, Nelson and I,’ the widow wrote.

She continued, ‘You were my greatest champion, my partner, and the one who always saw the best in me. I honor you and you are forever missed mon amour…We love you.’

And just a month earlier the veteran entertainer acknowledged what would have been their 30th wedding anniversary on December 17.

‘You still fill our hearts, every day. You are everything for us. We miss you so much. Happy 30th anniversary, mon amour!’ she wrote alongside a stunning black and white image of them on their wedding day.

In December 2022 Dion revealed she was diagnosed with a neurological condition called Stiff Person Syndrome.

The rare disorder has side effects including muscle spasms, which have severely impacted her ability to perform and hit notes she used to effortlessly belt throughout her illustrious career.

According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, the disease affects one to three people per million and eventually leaves those who suffer from it as ‘human statues.’

The condition progressively locks the body into rigid positions, leaving sufferers unable to walk or talk.

Celine previously described the condition to NBC News as feeling like ‘someone is strangling you.’

Her Prime Video documentary I Am: Celine Dion, released in 2024, depicts her harrowing day-to-day life with SPS.
