Matt James fans have mocked the star over his bizarre split announcement from Rachael Kirkconnell on Thursday as the pair enjoyed a London trip together only hours before. 

The Bachelor Nation vet, 33 – who revealed the break up news on Instagram – shared a reel to his main page as both he and Kirkconnell, 28, indulged in a tasty meal in London shortly before posting about their separation. 

The TV personality had uploaded a pH๏τo of the pair on The Bachelor where they first met, and asked God to help ‘mend our broken hearts.’

He also turned comments off the shock post, but did not do so on the previous clip that was shared on Wednesday as the now-exes spent time at a restaurant amid the getaway.  

In the video, both Matt and Rachael filmed themselves stopping by Crisp Pizza W6 as they each tried savory pizzas. 

However, fans jumped to the comment section to share their confusion over the odd timing of the reel.

‘Matt wtf is going on,’ another questioned, while a social media user added, ‘Well how long do you think she was supposed to be a girlfriend.’ 

A fan also shared, ‘yall broke up while in london?!!?? say it ain’t so,’ followed by a crying face emoji. 

Another suggested that Matt possibly did not upload the split announcement himself and penned, ‘With all due respect, the math ain’t mathing on this one Matt … have you been hacked?’ 

‘You were just eating pizza together 15 hours ago – I don’t understand I think it’s just heartburn…don’t make rash decisions guys!’ one typed out. 

An Instagram user added, ‘I hope your account hasn’t been hacked and that this break up announcement is not real.’  

Another also suggested, ‘He had to have been hacked… it doesn’t seem like his style of caption.’

Matt and Rachael also enjoyed scrumptious burgers and went to a cafe to grab a few Matcha drinks. 

But on Thursday, the Bachelor Nation alum opted to not share additional memories from the trip and instead shared the news of their split after dating on and off since 2020.

He uploaded a pH๏τo as both he and Rachael held hands when they first crossed paths on The Bachelor. 

The star shared a prayer as the caption – which also revealed their split news: ‘Father God, give Rachael and I strength to mend our broken hearts. Give us a peace about this decision to end our relationship that transcends worldly understanding.’ 

He added: ‘Shower our friends and family with kindness and love to comfort us. And remind us that our Joy comes from you, Lord,’ with a broken heart emoji.

Matt and Rachael met on the 2020 season of hit dating show, where he opted not to propose to Rachael but end the show in a relationship with her.

The star, who was the first Black Bachelor in the show’s 19-year history, split from Rachael in 2021 after pH๏τos of her attending a plantation themed party in 2018 surfaced – but they reconciled soon after.

Matt turned off the comments for the post, which has since garnered over 80K likes.  He also tagged Rachael in the pictured.

Rachael has not posted anything since she wished Matt a happy birthday on December 5, 2024 – along with a gushy caption and sweet video. 

After starring on The Bachelor, the couple quickly fell in love on the season, with Matt giving her the final rose – but choosing not to propose to her.

However, the couple soon split after racially insensitive images of Rachael from an antebellum plantation themed party she attended surfaced online.

She apologized publicly and during the After the Final Rose episode in March 2021, Matt told the audience they took a step back from their relationship.

After starring on The Bachelor, the couple quickly fell in love on the season, with Matt giving her the final rose – but choosing not to propose to her; seen in 2021 in NYC 

They sparked reconciliation rumors the following month and became official again in May 2021.

Explaining how they reunited, Matt told WSJ Magazine: ‘I think the best way to put it is that we can have critical conversations about being in this relationship and what I need in a partner – especially if that woman isn’t Black – to understand what comes with me and my life and being Black.’

He added: ‘It’s on people who care about being allies to do the work to be truly antiracist. And I think it’s unfair to leave people without the ability to unlearn and be better.’

After their reconciliation, the lovebirds’ relationship went from strength to strength – with the duo traveling and trying foods together.
