Brittany and Patrick Mahomes continued their eye-catching tradition of elemental themed names after announcing the birth of their third child, Golden Raye on Monday.
The 29-year-old Kansas City Chiefs star and his wife made the via Instagram sharing a glimpse of their baby girl’s foot, proudly introducing the newest addition to their family.
The couple also share Sterling Skye, three, and Patrick ‘Bronze’ Lavon Mahomes II, two. As their unique naming tradition has gained attention from fans, there is a sentimental story behind their metal-inspired monikers.
In a May 2023 Instagram Q&A, the blonde vixen shared that their naming theme began years ago — with their pups. It started with the couple’s two dogs, Steel and Silver, which she takes credit for naming.
‘I got Steel in college and named him that. Then we got another dog, and I wanted to name her Sterling because it went with Steel perfectly. But I decided to save that name for my daughter,’ she explained at the time.
And when the iconic NFL lovebirds welcomed their second child, a boy born in 2022, they turned to Patrick’s younger brother, Jackson, 24, for inspiration.

Patrick revealed during a press conference that Jackson Mahomes came up with the nickname Bronze.
‘Jackson suggested Bronze to match Sterling, and it fit perfectly,’ the quarterback explained at the time. ‘It works out well.’

‘He can have his own thing now where he’s not Patrick, he’s Bronze, even though he’s Patrick. And, Sterling and Bronze can have that connection moving forward,’ he added.
With the birth of their baby girl Golden Raye completing the metallic trifecta, fans are already speculating what name the Mahomes may select if they choose to grow their family.
Patrick had said on Christmas Day 2024 that Brittany was due to give birth imminently and joked that he hoped it was during his team’s bye week before the NFL playoffs.
Speaking after his team beat the Pittsburgh Steelers on Dec. 25, a win that gave his team an extra week off before the playoffs.
The athlete said: ‘I told my pregnant wife I was gonna get her the number one seed so we can go have that baby. So we got that number one seed.’
Patrick and Brittany are high school sweethearts. They started dating in March 2012 and even attended their prom together a year later.
