Abbie Chatfield recently announced that she would be taking a break from all social media, only to return just five hours later.

The FBoy Island star, 29, shared the news that she was ‘deleting the apps’ via her Instagram story on Boxing Day, following a heartfelt video of a gift exchange with her boyfriend, Adam Hyde.

In the video, Abbie began by acknowledging that some people might not care about her break, saying, ‘There will be people who are like: “No one cares.”‘

‘I’m just letting you all know, if you do care, that I’m not going to be on social media for another week,’ she added.

Abbie explained that she had not accessed her TikTok or Instagram accounts for several days, returning only to post the emotional Christmas gift video.

‘I’ve had like four days without logging on at all. I deleted the apps. I thought: “The chookies have got to see the video of Adam”, but I’m deleting the apps again now,’ she revealed.

Abbie encouraged her friends to reach out via text if they needed to contact her, while sharing that she was taking a break from social media due to the overwhelming negativity directed at her.

‘I just want to have a break from everyone,’ Abbie confided.

‘Not everyone, from someone every day saying something negative about me or to me. You know what I mean?’

However, her social media break was short-lived, as Abbie returned to posting on her Instagram story just five hours after her exit video.

After sharing some quick Christmas-themed pictures, Abbie posted two selfies showcasing some jewellery.

One pH๏τo featured her wearing an ornate necklace from Aussie designer Kaarme Jewels, while another displayed a pair of vintage earrings from Hail The Maison.

The family significance of the jewellery is what made the FBoy Island star emotional.

The necklace, designed by Melbourne-based artist Millie Savage, is a replica of one worn by Abbie’s late grandmother, Carmel.

Abbie’s new piece was made even more meaningful by the inclusion of her and Adam’s birthstones.

As Abbie realised the significance of the gift in the video, she became overwhelmed with emotion and struggled to find the words.

Captioning the tender video, Abbie admitted that she had never been so emotional over receiving a present.

‘I’ve never cried so much from a gift,’ she wrote.

‘Adam never got to meet my Grandma but he knows how much she means to me. My mum has worn my grandma’s horseshoe necklace ever since she pᴀssed away.

Abbie also paid a sweet tribute to her grandmother, revealing that Carmel had been one of her strongest role models.

‘My grandma was my favourite person in the world and a huge reason for the beliefs I hold so strongly,’ she continued.

‘She was an orphan who became a dentist in Queensland in the 1950s 30 years before women could even have bank accounts.’

She then praised her thoughtful boyfriend, who even enlisted the help of Abbie’s mum to make the dream gift a reality.

It’s not the first time Abbie decided to take a break from social media.

In the wake of Donald Trump’s victory in the November US Presidential election, Abbie tearfully announced she was leaving her social media platforms.

Abbie shared a short clip that showed her staring blankly into the camera while a ‘tweet’ was superimposed over the image which read: ‘I saw a tweet that said the only thing an American hates more than a rapist is a woman.’

Captioning the clip, Abbie revealed that the news of Trump again ascending to the White House was enough to walk away from all internet-related media – albeit for a short period of time.

‘This is why it hurts (and much more),’ Abbie wrote. ‘Anyway I will not be on the internet the next 2 days or so’
