It was a bold look but Zendaya pulled it off with aplomb when she attended the Met Gala in New York City on Monday.
The 19-year-old rocked an edgy bowl cut as she worked her magic in a golden Michael Kors gown with a floor-length train.
The shimmering studded dress was a turtleneck and partially sleeveless, showing off Zendaya’s toned right arm.
Zendaya’s edgy look was all the more amplified by her heavy smoky eye shadow, bronzed cheeks, and glossy pink lips.
She wore a collection of large rings with an deep purple stone, and her footwear was practically invisible as it remained completely hidden beneath her frock.
The actress was joined on the red carpet by the designer of the dress himself, Michael Kors.
Zendaya got her start on Disney Channel’s Shake It Up, and recently she explained why she decided to return to the network for her latest show K.C. Undercover.
‘A big reason why I wanted to come back to Disney is because I saw a lack of diversity on the channel,’ Zendaya shared with Marie Claire.
‘To see a black family, to see a young girl with these adorable Afro puffs…little things like that are so important.’
The show also stars Veronica Dunne and Kamil McFadden.
This year’s theme of the Met Gala – which is held every first Monday in May – is ‘Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology.
Alongside Taylor Swift, the Gala was also hosted by Anna Wintour, and cochairs Idris Elba and Jonathan Ive.
