A Good Morning Britain presenter was sH๏τ while reporting live from the Los Angeles protests and was left with an injury that ‘felt like a tonne of bricks crushing his arm’.
Good Morning Britain was left in chaos on Monday as a report was interrupted by loud bangs while North America Correspondent Noel Phillips reported from LA, which turned out to be fireworks.
However, on Tuesday morning, host Susanna Reid, 54, said: ‘You found yourself in the line of fire yesterday, didn’t you? Just before your report at eight o’clock.
‘We had no idea at the time. We’ve seen a number of reporters, in fact you reported on one yesterday morning of a pH๏τographer who had been hit, what happened to you?’
Noel explained: ‘Susanna and Richard, just 10 minutes before coming on air yesterday, I was on the floor talking to several protesters.
‘I was on the floor because it was the best place to be, given the fact that the situation around us was so volatile, officers were obviously chasing protesters on the streets.’

North America Correspondent Noel Phillips spoke to hosts Susanna Reid and Richard Madeley about what happened on the ITV show on Tuesday
He told the pair: ‘I realised, within about 20 to 30 seconds, that a rubber bullet had grazed the top layer of my skin and had caused a bit of injury’
They played out footage from the exact moment and Noel continued: ‘As I was laying on the floor, I felt as though an enormous ton of bricks had fallen on my arm.
‘I realised, within about 20 to 30 seconds, that a rubber bullet had grazed the top layer of my skin and had caused a bit of injury.
‘My arm was swollen, I went to the doctors, got it checked out, it wasn’t broken at all.
‘But, it was swollen, it still is swollen and it’s in a bandage at the moment.
‘I thin Susanna and Richard, it gives you a sense of how unpredictable things are here, police don’t appear to care whether you’re a journalist, a resident or a protector on the streets.
‘Their objective is to get people off, of course, for us being in an environment like this, we are given training.
‘We go on training sessions to give us a sense of how to operate, how to walk around, how to report and cover stories in environments that after often hostile and dangerous.
‘Of course I had this vest on, my helmet I also had, this gas mask, which I can put on at any minute pepper spray be deployed.

A number of bangs went off behind Noel as he spoke, to which he explained: ‘Those are in fact flash bangs.
‘At the protesters are running around the block, the police are trying to corner them. But those are fireworks at the moment.
‘Appear to be coming from the side of the protesters.’
Many rushed to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share their support towards Noel.
One said: ‘Oh wow, poor Noel—hope he’s okay!’
‘That’s proper dangerous stuff, love. Hope Noel’s alright—no one should have to dodge rubber bullets just for doing their job.’

On Monday Good Morning Britain was left in chaos when a report was interrupted by loud bangs.
Hosts Richard, 69, and Susanna Reid went across the studio to Ranvir Singh, 39, to get an update about what has been going on with the protests in Los Angeles.
North America Correspondent Noel Phillips was live from LA and told Ranvir: ‘As you can see Ranvir, the police appear to have lost control of this particular area here in sown town LA, people are setting fires in the middle of the street, reports of looting, we have witnessed people running with what appears to be boxes from stores.’
Moments later one of force tried to get the journalist to move back, with him adding: ‘As you can see police are trying to get these protestors Ranvir, off the streets. We are going to try and bring you more a little bit later.’
Just seconds later a loud bang went off and Ranvir told viewers: ‘Just to be clear, my producer is telling me that was fireworks, because of course, there are several cameras there.
‘I just want to that clear for you because it is alarming to hear that sound behind a live report.
‘Of course Noel is on the ground for us all morning, we will bring you much more from that live developing situation in Los Angeles.’
Later on in the episode the show checked back in with Noel and he confirmed that he was okay.
