Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Curtis Pritchard’s split may have come as a shock for some, but it appears there were many hints suggesting their relationship was going through a rocky patch behind closed doors.

The actress was the first to break the news of their split on her social media on Wednesday, admitting it was a ‘really tough decision’ to make.

Curtis joked about ‘breaking up’ with Ekin-Su in an awkward podcast interview just weeks before she made the announcement.

Speaking on the Not My Bagg podcast, Curtis responded to claims that he and Ekin-Su were a showmance.

In the shocking clip which foreshadowed their split, Curtis quipped: ‘Yeah, it’s a full on showmance. You’re right guys, 1000%.

Following Ekin-Su’s announcement, Curtis took to his Instagram story to confirm the split, writing: ‘It’s true, Ekin and I have decided to go our separate ways’ 

‘I think our contract runs out in two months or something and then we’ll end up breaking up.

‘I don’t know how I’m going to do it already.’

He later insisted: ‘No, it’s not a showmance. It’s all a load of rubbish and people sometimes say like “Oh, there is a set contract, amount of time that they have to be together”.

‘I’ll tell you right now, I didn’t read my contract.’

He added: ‘We’re going good, we’re fun and people may think that because Ekin and I are very… I won’t lie we’re quite dramatic sometimes.’

The unlikely couple shocked fans after making their relationship official while in the villa back in February and from the get go they were plagued with rumours their relationship was fake. 

But proving they were strong at the time, the couple were seen looking smitten at his recent Misfit boxing match earlier this month.

Ekin-Su seemed every inch the supportive girlfriend as she arrived before his match to give him a sweet kiss.

The couple met on this year’s series of Love Island: All Stars in January and had been plagued by showmance speculation since they came out of the villa

His joke about their romance ending came weeks after MailOnline revealed Ekin had a secret relationship with Married At First Sight UK’s Georges Berthonneau during her time on the show’s All Stars series.

The former E4 contestant, 32, revealed to MailOnline in April that he had a secret relationship with Ekin and they remained committed to each other despite her appearance on Love Island: All Stars.

In an exclusive interview, Georges claimed he and Ekin had agreed that if she stuck to a set of boundaries, she could appear on the Love Island spinoff to further her career, and they would go back to each other once the show had wrapped.

But Georges was left devastated after the woman he loved started dating Curtis on national TV and the couple entered a relationship together.

The personal trainer spoke on FUBAR Radio about his experiences with the former Celebrity Big Brother contestant, alleging the pair had exchanged messages since her stint in the South African villa – all while she was with Curtis.

The couple celebrated the festive season together wearing matching Christmas pyjamas, posing for selfies in December – a month before Ekin dated in front of the nation 

Georges said: ‘On the day before my birthday, she was out with him that night, and they’d had an argument, and she was messaging me whilst he was asleep in bed with her being like, I need to see you. Blah, blah, blah, like, I’ve got the receipts on my phone.’ 

Georges also revealed he would be happy to meet Curtis face to face to show him the ‘receipts’ of his alleged conversations with Ekin-Su since she left the show. 

MailOnline approached Ekin’s representative for comment at the time and they declined to comment on her behalf.

In April, Ekin-Su and Curtis were hit by speculation they had split just two months after leaving the villa, but soon clarified they were still very much together.

Reacting to the news, Curtis shared a video on Ekin-Su’s Instagram Story on Monday to joke about the reported ‘break up’ as he revealed they had both simply been away for work.

The dancer was seen with a black eye as he chilled on the sofa, before saying: ‘Good day of boxing today, and yeah as you can see a little bit of a black eye but it’s getting better.’

‘Yeah apparently I’m now single as well, yes!’ he added, as Ekin-Su could be heard laughing in the background. ‘But unfortunately I’ve got back with my ex straight away,’ he continued, as he leaned into Ekin-Su and showed her on camera.

‘Apparently spending nearly two or three days away means we’ve broken up?’ Ekin-Su said.

George first spoke about his secret 10-month relationship with Ekin-Su during her time on the ITV dating show in an exclusive interview with MailOnline last month.

According to Georges, he and Ekin were in love, but she insisted on signing up to the ITV2 show to further her career. They agreed she would go no further than ‘kissing’ another Islander during her time on the dating series, of which she was the star signing.

But Georges claimed Ekin betrayed him on national TV when she became Curtis’ girlfriend, leaving him devastated.

Speaking to us, Georges said he and Ekin had planned a future together, called each other pet names, holidayed in France during the summer and spent Boxing Day exchanging gifts, just 18 days before she entered the South African villa.

The personal trainer says he lived a ‘nightmare’ for the five weeks Ekin was on the dating show as she pᴀssionately kissed Curtis, 29, and performed a seductive routine for him wearing Sєxy red lingerie during the programme’s Heart Rate Challenge.

But after Ekin shunned Georges once All Stars was over, only reaching out to him a week after the final, he finally ended their romance, saying: ‘I can’t be with someone who has another boyfriend…’

Georges said: ‘We were boyfriend and girlfriend from April last year. We were with each other. We spent Boxing Day together.

‘She spent time with my family, she came to family events, she met my nephews, sister-in-law, uncles, everyone. I met her mum a couple of times and her brother.

‘We said we loved each other after six weeks of dating… I fell in love with the girl. She used to call me Bear and I called her Olive because of her olive skin and that’s one of her last messages to me, “I love you, my Bear.”

‘It was a super, super intense and intimate relationship… We had a lot of intimacy, we were very close, and physically and emotionally we showed each other such love, but she threw everything we had away for her TV romance with Curtis Pritchard.’

Announcing the split on Instagram on Wednesday, Ekin wrote: ‘I wanted to share that Curtis and I have decided to go our separate ways. 

‘It’s been a really tough decision, but one made with a lot of love and respect for one another.

‘He’s an incredible person and I’ll always cherish the memories we made both in an out of the villa.

‘Thank you all so much for the love and support over the past few months. We’re both focusing on navigating this transition and would really appreciate privacy during this time. Love always, EkinSu Xx’.
