Singer Daria Yanina broke the nudity rules at Cannes Film Festival when she went braless on the red carpet. 

Attending the amfAR Gala, presented by Chopard, at the H๏τel du Cap-Eden-Roc, the Russian musician, flouted this years guidance and wore a sheer dress. 

Hours before the two-week festival was due to kick off, organisers issued a statement banning nudity from both the red carpet and other areas of the event – prompting most female guests to play it safe. 

But while the move attempted to the stifle the celebrity trend for ‘naked dresses,’ few have still braved risqué ensembles. 

Daria opted for a pale blue chiffon gown, with a mesh top half, which was embellished with silver crystals.

She layered ɴuᴅᴇ underwear beneath the sheer skirt and topped off her outfit with a pair of clear heels.  

In a statement before the festival, organisers said: ‘For decency reasons, nudity is prohibited on the red carpet, as well as in any other areas of the festival.

‘The festival welcoming teams will be obligated to prohibit red carpet access to anyone not respecting these rules.’ 

The surprise new policy features in a recent festival-goers charter – released with a series of outlines regarding expected public behaviour. 

Guests are expected to converge on the Grand Auditorium Louis Lumière for some of the highest profile film screenings across a packed seven day schedule in Cannes. 

It’s understood that the iconic venue now adopts a more conservative dress code, with suits, dinner jackets and floor-length evening gowns generally favoured over headline grabbing ensembles. 

Classic little black dresses, cocktail dresses, pant-suits, dressy tops and elegant sandals, ‘with or without a heel’, will also be permitted.  

While the decision to implement a more stringent policy will be a first, it is not known if French TV broadcasters, wary of airing nudity, played a role in its enforcement.

However, another guest who decided to go against the guidance was Donald Trump Jr .’s ex-fiancé Kimberly Guilfoyle 

Major red carpet events, including the Cannes Film Festival, are aired in France by France Télévisions. 

Guests are playing it safe – some might say too safe – in strapless gowns that look classic or characterless, depending on your view.

Amal Clooney (in John Galliano), Julianne Moore (custom Bottega Veneta) and Daisy Edgar-Jones (custom Gucci) looked elegant if interchangeable in black, while Angelina Jolie’s strapless Brunello Cucinelli gown was ɴuᴅᴇ of hue, though categorically not of fabric.

However, another guest who decided to go against the guidance was Donald Trump Jr.’s ex-fiancé Kimberly Guilfoyle. 

She appeared to be enjoying her single life as she flaunted her figure in a very risqué, fiery red dress while attending the 31st amFAR Gala in Cannes on Thursday.

Kimberly, 56, walked the carpet wearing a long-sleeve gown which featured a very revealing top with much of her chest exposed behind a thin veil of mesh fabric.

Floral and silk detailing was the only thing that prevented her baring all at the star-studded Gala. 

The waist of the gown was cinched, showing off her physique, while the envelope-style skirt showed off her trim pins with mesh, floral embroidered detailing.

She paired the look with a pair of seriously high, silver bedazzled pumps that were dripping in gems.

The former model completed the bold outfit with a metallic silver clutch by designer Valentino Garavani, whose bags typically retail for thousands of dollars, along with $510 large embellished earrings that appeared to be from Amina Muaddi.

However, it’s an ensemble that Kimberly already appeared to have worn once before.

She wore the bright red gown in an editorial spread last month, as she appeared on the April 2025 cover of Metropolitan Palm Beach, a luxury magazine.

In the picture, Guilfoyle donned the dress, posing with one hand on her hip and giving a sultry look into the camera.
