Peppa Pig fans share confusion over new baby piglet Evie as the newborn’s proud parents hint they will expand their brood

Peppa Pig fans have been left completely baffled by one very confusing question after Mummy Pig was asked if she will ever consider having more piglets following the birth of her daugher Evie this week.

The animated programme, which has told the story of Peppa, Daddy Pig, Mummy Pig, and her little brother George for more than two decades, sent fans wild when they announced the pregnancy in February.

And the hysteria has continued this week after the safe arrival of new piglet, Evie was announced on Tuesday.

But fans have been left confused about whether Evie will remain the same age or be the only cartoon character to grow, because Peppa has remained four-years-old and George, two, since the show began 21 years ago.

Taking to X – formerly known as Twitter – fans wrote: ‘I already know Evie Pig will remain as a newborn baby for the next 20 years… joining the ranks of Maggie Simpson.’

‘So is Evie going to stay the same age like everyone else or is she going to be the only pig that grows? Or do they all have different ages where they stop growing?’

‘What if Evie aged throughout the show, while the other characters stayed the same age, that’d be a genuine psychological horror’.

Mummy Pig has since revealed in a tell all interview with Hello! magazine whether her and Daddy Pig would like more children, which would logistically mean Evie would need to age.

Hesitant about adding a fourth child to their family, Daddy Pig panicked before Mummy Pig jumped in to clarify: ‘I think we’re more than happy with our family of five! We’re excited to settle into our new adventure and see where that takes us.’

Elsewhere the parents explained why they decided to have a piglet now after 20 years, Mummy Pig said: ‘I don’t think either of us ever had a specific plan – but we just got to that place where timing felt right.’

Daddy Pig added: ‘And everything fell into place. We’re very lucky to be able to grow our family.’

Mummy and Daddy Pig confirmed the happy news on Good Morning Britain, revealing their third piglet’s name is Evie.

Mummy Pig, who has a job involving doing ‘very important work’ on her computer and Daddy Pig, who ‘takes big numbers, transmutes them and calculates their load-bearing tangents,’ welcomed their little girl at the Lindo Wing in London – the same location where Kate Middleton gave birth to all three of her children.

The birth was announced with a royal-inspired twist on the classic royal birth announcement, complete with a town crier, a scroll-style proclamation, and the unveiling of an official Peppa Pig birth certificate.

Fans have jokingly questioned how the ‘middle class’ family managed to afford welcoming their new piglet at the same private hospital where the Princess of Wales gave birth.

Prices at the the exclusive maternity ward at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington start at £5,900 for just one night, rising up to £7,500 for deluxe packages.

The decision for Mummy Pig to go private has left critics wondering how the middle class family were able to splash the cash on the fancy ward used by the royals – with others suggesting they should have used the NHS.

One user wrote: ‘Right I am absolutely fuming. They should have went to the NHS not go private. The Peppa family were meant to be middle class, will never be watching again.’

A second fumed: ‘They only live in a 2-bed house? How have they got the funds for this…’

And a third quipped: ‘She’s got enough money to go private but can’t get George and Peppa a separate room.’

In an exclusive interview with Grazia Magazine, Mummy Pig had spoken of her fears over the financial burden of having a piglet in the cost-of-living crisis.

She said: ‘I won’t say it hasn’t been a concern for us – and times are already quite тιԍнт. We still have lots of Peppa and George’s pre-loved baby things for the new little one to use, so that helps with some of the costs – and it’s very good for the planet, too!’

But while fans were delighted to hear of the safe arrival, they were left unimpressed over the family not using the NHS.

One questioned: ‘What the hell does Daddy Pig do to afford that level of private healthcare? You know Mummy Pig didn’t get that on the NHS.’

To which another fan pointed out: ‘They have their own reality TV show!’
