Peppa Pig’s baby sister’s birth is officially announced to the public as town crier declares ‘Long live Evie Pig’

The birth of Peppa Pig’s sister has officially been announced after Good Morning Britain revealed that Mummy Pig welcomed a little girl named Evie at 5:34AM on Tuesday.

Welcoming the newest addition to their family at the Lindo Wing in London – the same location where Kate Middleton gave birth to all three of her children – a town crier has now officially announced the piglet’s birth.

Addressing the public from outside the hospital the town crier declared: ‘Lend me your ears for news of the birth of a daughter to Mummy and Daddy Pig. Peppa and George have a baby sister and her name is Evie.

‘Long live Evie Pig!’

Member of the public were over the moon to hear the happy news as they shared their reactions.

One gushed: ‘I love Evie I think it sounds very British, I think it is beautiful,’ while another said: ‘I think my niece’s are going to be really excited as they love Peppa Pig.’

A third fan exclaimed: ‘Everybody watched Peppa Pig I just think it is wonderful because let’s face it everyone has babies!’

Mummy Pig broke the internet back in February when she revealed live on Good Morning Britain that she was pregnant with her third piglet.

And since then the excitement has only accelerated after fans were left squealing with delight following a huge gender reveal party at London’s Battersea Power Station last month.

Mummy Pig, who has a job involving doing ‘very important work’ on her computer and Daddy Pig, who ‘takes big numbers, transmutes them and calculates their load-bearing tangents,’ have named their second daughter after Mummy Pig’s aunt Evie. Prices at the the exclusive maternity ward at St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington start at £5,900 for just one night, rising up to £7,500 for deluxe packages.

The birth was announced with a royal-inspired twist on the classic royal birth announcement, complete with a town crier, a scroll-style proclamation, and the unveiling of an official Peppa Pig birth certificate.

Big siblings Peppa and George are said to be over the moon and excited to meet their new baby sister, while Mummy and Daddy Pig are ‘looking forward to lots of happy snorts and sleepless nights.’

GMB revealed that ‘understandably, Mummy Pig is resting but Daddy Pig has let me know he will be free to catch up next week for his first ever TV interview and another glimpse of the new baby.’

Last month the Battersea Power Station chimneys were lit up pink to reveal Mummy and Daddy Pig are expecting a baby girl.

The global smash hit cartoon celebrated the gender reveal news with a VIP party at the world’s first-ever permanent Peppa Pig store at Battersea, featuring fundraising in support of NCT, the UK’s leading charity for pregnancy and parents.

NCT (National Children’s Trust) was announced earlier this month as the official ‘Pregnancy and Parenting Charity Partner’ for Peppa Pig in the UK.

And the excitement doesn’t stop there as fans can join the Pig family on the big screen with Peppa Meets the Baby, a brand-new cinema experience launching May 30 in over 2,600 cinemas across 19 countries.

The hour-long, song-filled screening features 10 brand-new episodes, as Peppa and George prepared for the arrival of their baby sister.

Earlier this month, ahead of the birth, Mummy Pig shared an inspirational message with all mums on Instagram.

She penned: ‘A note to the mums out there: You’re doing amazing. Being a mum is one of the most difficult jobs in the world. We’re in this together and I see you – Mummy Pig xx’.

The star also added in the caption: ‘In case no one told you today, you’re doing a good job’.

Fans took to the Instagram to thank her for the inspirational words as they penned: ‘Shout out to all the mums!’

Others wrote: ‘The only mummy influencer i love’; ‘As long as you love your kid/kids and try your best then you’re an amazing momma’; ‘Thanks Mummy Pig’.

After revealing the gender of her little one, the pig matriarch has also opened up on the support that Daddy Pig has given her as they prepare to grow their family.

In an interview with Grazia magazine, in which she posed for a stunning pregnancy shoot, Mummy Pig responded positively when asked if she’s closer to her husband as she gushed at how the pregnancy has strengthened their bond.

She shared: ‘Oh yes! He’s always been such a supportive partner – and an excellent Daddy to Peppa and George – but this has brought all of us even closer. Even when there’s so much to organise and prepare before the new arrival, he is kind and funny and always quick to do whatever needs to be done to look after ‘Team Pig’ as he likes to call us.’

She went on to emphasize the pair’s teamwork when it comes to juggling their busy schedules with older children Peppa, four and George, two.

She remarked: ‘Juggling life, work and two little ones is quite second nature to us now – we’re a great team and support each other. Communication is key!

Peppa Pig first aired in 2004 and has since been broadcast in 180 territories and translated into 40 languages. It’s spawned books, toys and even two theme parks, with the global Peppa empire now worth over £1billion.

Creators Neville Astley and Mark Baker admitted they were worried the idea would never get off the ground, and that people were initially bored of the idea.

People in the pub would ask us, “What are you drawing?” We’d say, “A pig, called Peppa, it’s going to be big.” They’d lose interest and wander off’, explained Astley.

The pair created Peppa and her family working in each other’s houses or at the local pub.

They told the Radio Times they were inspired by 1970s cartoon classics including Roobarb and Pingu, after realising that children ‘like stories about animals’.

We’d made this little trailer for Peppa but hadn’t got anywhere,’ recalled Baker.

‘It’s very difficult to sell your own creative work. The good thing about Phil is he’s quite thick-skinned.’

They soon found an energetic little girl, Lily Snowden-Fine, to voice Peppa – despite her being only four years-old and unable to read, instead repeating lines spoken by her mother.

When her family moved to Canada, the job went to Cecily Bloom, followed by current incumbent Harley Bird.

The creators explained that the secret to Peppa’s long-lasting appeal is the show’s simplicity, as well as ensuring the piglet is never the ʙuтт of the jokes.

‘We put a lot of work into making everything look as effortless as possible, said Baker.

‘We can laugh at the adults, but children don’t like it if we laugh at the children in the show.’

All new episodes of Peppa Pig will be launching on Milkshake from September.
