A new Netflix romcom that was dubbed a ‘must watch’ has rocketed up the charts but also managed to divide viewers.
Eight-part series, The Royals, delves into the tale of a regal family who turn their palatial home into a luxury holiday resort.
Prince Aviraaj (Ishaan Khatter) is introduced to CEO Sophia Kanmani Shekhar (Bhumi Pednekar) who is described as a ‘self-made girl boss’.
It’s Sophia’s job to help transform the palace but the pair ‘collide in a whirlwind of romance and ambition,’ according to the synopsis.
The Royals first hit the streaming platform on May 9 and reportedly rocketed into the top ten shows on the site, according to Digital Spy.
However, since its release watchers have been divided over the series and have left mixed reviews online.

The Royals only has a 33 percent score on Rotten Tomatoes and 3.9/10 rating on IMDb.
But some viewers have clearly been impressed with the show and shared their thoughts.
On Rotten Tomatoes, one fan penned: ‘I have really enjoyed this series and one of the favourite series of me never seen this type of acting romance suspense and comedy.
‘I have really loved it. I only just want to say that I can’t wait for this season two. please release Season two soon.’
While on IMDb, another described it as ‘a must watch’ and added: ‘I am so glad that I have seen this series before watching the reviews, sometimes you just have to watch it to believe it obv there are some shortcomings but the series is sH๏τ beautifully Royals x corporate drama it does have a great story line and potential to become one of the best series.’
Someone else gushed they ‘loved the show and storyline’.

‘Please avoid making such shows in the future. Lisa’s performance is on top, she should be in movies but rest need to work better.
‘And having too many actors has always been a mess.’
