A model has revealed the reason that he remains banned from the Met Gala, six years after the offense that made him persona non grata at ‘fashion’s night out.’

Luka Sabbat, who was once briefly linked to Kourtney Kardashian, broke two major rules of the glamorous event when he attended in 2019.

Smoking is prohibited in the Metropolitan Museum Of Art, on top of which attendees at the Met Gala are instructed not to bring their phones.

Casting both proscriptions aside, Luka snapped a mirror selfie in the bathroom at the event while holding a lit cigarette in his right hand. 

As a result, he was forbidden from attending Anna Wintour’s beano again – and this Monday, the day of the latest Met Gala, he indicated he is still on the blacklisted.

In response to a fan question on X, Luka said: ‘Yes I’m still banned from the met lol,’ and  when another X user asked why, he shared: ‘Took a selfie smoking a cigarette In 2019 Those are two of the main rules that I broke.’

This year’s theme was Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, the first time the event was focused primarily on menswear and black culture.

Several of the past A-list staples of the Met Gala were absent this year, including Jennifer Lopez, Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift.

However, among the guests who did attend, several of them managed to circumvent Anna Wintour’s no-phones rule and post social media content from the Met Gala.

Megan Thee Stallion uploaded a food review, Halle Bailey snapped a selfie with Sydney Sweeney and K-pop songstress Lisa, and Angela Bᴀssett and Yara Shadid were also glimpsed with their phones out during the fete. 

Anna is among the chairs, joined this year by Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Colman Domingo, Pharrell Williams and in an honorary capacity LeBron James.

Luka is far from the only celebrity banned from the Met Gala, as Anna has publicly stated she would never invite Donald Trump again.

Project Runway judge Tim Gunn has revealed he was disinvited in 2016 over an indiscreet remark he made about Anna, and has not appeared at any Met Galas since.

‘It is very true. It is a crazy story, and as far as I’m concerned, it’s a very matter-of-fact story,’ he said on the E! show Fashion Police.

‘I was asked what is the most unforgettable thing I’ve ever seen in fashion and I said: “It’s easy. It was watching Anna Wintour being carried down five flights of stairs by two body guards – two big hulking men – from a fashion show. All hell broke loose. It was insane. We’ve had an open war ever since.’
