Fans have voiced their fears for Anna Wintour’s styling team, after spotting a red stain marring her blue silk gown at the 2025 Met Gala on Monday.
The famously icy Vogue editor, 75, has hosted the biggest night in fashion at the Metropolitan Museum of Art for nearly 30 years.
And she has earned a fierce reputation over the years for the intense measures that she takes to ensure that everything goes smoothly.
But, it appeared that Anna herself was the one to put a step wrong at the glitzy event, after eagle-eyed fans noticed a suspicious mark on her blue satin gown.
The magazine mogul looked typically elegant in the floral embroidered number underneath a powder blue coat, teamed with her signature blunt bob.
However, visible on the skirt was a small reddish mark, standing out on the pale-coloured fabric beneath the slew of camera flashes and bright lights.

The blemish sent the internet into a frenzy, with many shocked that the fashion maven would step out in a stained dress at her own event and others predicting her fiery wrath.
Taking the opportunity to poke fun at Anna’s famously cold demeanor, they rushed to social media to playfully voice their concern for her team and try and guess what had caused the stain, which may hvae been make-up.
They wrote: ‘stop pointing out that stain on anna wintour’s dress pls yall are gonna get some poor intern executed’.
‘I’m at the Met Gala and we just saw Anna’s stylist go backstage and then heard a single gunsH๏τ but the staff said it was unrelated’.

It comes after Anna gave some rare insight into her Met Gala planning, as she addressed one of the many rumoured rules that she is believed to have set for the party.
A past biographer claiming that the Vogue star meticulously plans every detail of the evening and hand picks the guest list herself.
There’s has even been rumours that every outfit worn by the A-list guests has to be approved by Anna, but according to woman herself, that’s not the case.
She was quick to dispel the claim during a recent appearance on Good Morning America, where she was asked if it was true and insisted she’ll only weigh in if asked.
Anna replied with a smile, ‘No. Many call and ask our advice, so we try and help some of them as best we can. Some, no idea.’

Back in 2022, biographer Amy Odell detailed Anna’s extensive planning ahead of the event in her tome Anna: The Biography, after speaking with various Met staffers and other people who have worked with the fashion legend.
According to the writer, Anna doesn’t learn Met staff names – but instead, she simply calls them ‘you’ – tries to hide artifacts from the museum that she finds ‘ugly,’ and keeps a list of those who are ‘in’ and ‘out.’
Former Met Gala planner Stephanie Winston Wolkoff described Anna as ‘militant’ during the weeks leading up the gala, while chatting with Amy for the biography.
During the party, Stephanie explained that Anna wants Vogue staff to know every single detail about each celebrity’s arrival – including when they’re going to get there (every star has their own prearranged time), what car they’re going to come in, and what they’re wearing
And Anna reportedly pays attention to every single detail throughout the night.
Former director of Vogue and longtime friend of Anna’s, Lisa Love, recalled the executive asking her during the 2019 Met Gala: ‘Can you please tell [Kim Kardashian] to sit down?’ when she noticed that the reality star was standing throughout the dinner due to her тιԍнт-fitted outfit.

The A-list lineup was packed with stars like Rihanna, Sydney Sweeney, Hailey Bieber, Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Cynthia Erivo.
Bad Bunny, Donatella Versace, Vera Wang, Usher, Kerry Washington, Jeremy Allen White, and Suki Waterhouse were also on the guest list.

This year, it was about tailoring and suiting as interpreted through the history and meaning of Black dandyism across the Atlantic diaspora.
The theme was inspired by the annual spring exhibition, which this year is based in large part on Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Idenтιтy, a book written by Monica L. Miller. She is guest curator of the exhibit.
‘Historical manifestations of dandyism range from absolute precision in dress and tailoring to flamboyance and fabulousness in dress and style,’ Miller writes in the exhibit catalog.
‘Whether a dandy is subtle or spectacular, we recognize and respect the deliberateness of the dress, the self-conscious display, the reach for tailored perfection, and the sometimes subversive self-expression.’
The exhibit, Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, draws on other sources beyond Miller’s book. It’s organised into 12 sections.
Each symbolises a characteristic of dandy style as defined by Zora Neale Hurston in her 1934 essay, Characteristics of Negro Expression.
The guest list amounts to about 450 high-profile people from tech, sports, art, entertainment and more.
