Kyle Richards is ‘worried’ about her daughter Sophia Umansky, who recently admitted to using weight-loss drug Mounjaro and now fears she’s going bald from it. 

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, 56, is reportedly ‘heartbroken’ to see her 25-year-old daughter succumb to the ‘pressures of the industry,’ having herself battled anorexia in her twenties.

‘This is extremely upsetting to Kyle who battled anorexia when she was younger,’ a source close to Kyle exclusively revealed to DailyMail.com. 

‘Kyle already is constantly worried about all her children because that is just how she is. To see Sophia, who is so beautiful and perfect the way that she is, feel the need to lose weight over the pressures of the industry is heartbreaking for Kyle.’  

The insider added that Kyle — who shares Sophia with estranged husband Mauricio Umansky, 54 — understands that raising her children in front of cameras has ‘not been the healthiest’ for them or her marriage.

DailyMail.com has reached out to Richards’ representatives for comment.

The source added: ‘Kyle knows these pressures all too well and so she can relate to Sophia. She is coming at this from a place of understanding not a place of anger.’

The star also understands the downsides of raising her children in the spotlight.

‘Kyle also knows that growing up in front of the camera has not been the healthiest for her children, or for her marriage.’

‘The girls, and herself, are constantly comparing themselves to the tiny size 0 models in LA and this is not attainable for the normal woman.’

Richards is proud of her daughter’s openness, after she recently shared the side effects of the drug, and think it will help other women considering using it. 

‘She wants a full stop and is proud of her for coming forward because it will help lots of women who are contemplating using the drug.’

‘No one really knows the long-term consequences to your health. She has the support and love of all her family,’ the source said.

On Thursday, Sophia left fans aghast after admitting to using the popular Hollywood weight loss medication Mounjaro.

Sophia said she began losing hair three months after she started taking the drug.

Mounjaro, which like Ozempic is an injectable originally developed to treat diabetes, has been taken by celebrities ranging from Meghan Trainor to Whoopi Goldberg.

The source added that Kyle — who shares Sophia and two other daughters with estranged husband Mauricio Umansky, 54 — understands raising her children in front of cameras has ‘not been the healthiest’ for them or her marriage

Aside from Sophia, Kyle and Mauricio also share daughters  Portia, 17, and Alexia, 28. Kyle is also mom to daughter Farrah, 36, from a a previous marriage

Although hair loss is not listed as a side effect of the drug, it can be a temporary result of hormonal changes or nutrient deficiencies that come with rapid weight loss.

‘I am very lucky that I have so much hair, because at the rate that I’ve been losing hair, I’m gonna be bald in about a week,’ she joked on TikTok.

‘I started Mounjaro about four months ago, and I would say like maybe for the past three weeks to a month, I’ve noticed a dramatic hair loss situation.’

Sophia indicated that ‘all throughout the day,’ if she tugs even gently at her hair, clumps of it will come out in her hands.

She showed her fans footage of ‘everything I brush out of my hair before the shower and everything that comes out during the shower.’

The ‘nepo baby’ influencer theorized: ‘I don’t think it’s a direct result of the medication. I think it’s a direct result of rapid weight loss because of the medication, and not eating enough vitamins, protein, all that kind of stuff.’

She explained that when she began taking Mounjaro she ‘was just making sure I was eating enough’ food in general, and ‘wasn’t really thinking about like enough protein, enough vitamins, all that kind of stuff.’

Now, however, she has ‘really been putting an effort into eating more protein, taking more vitamins and all that kind of stuff,’ she shared.

Sophia also offered her fans a glimpse of some of the measures she has been taking to ‘not be bald,’ such as using shampoo and conditioner meant to treat hair thinning.

She ordered a jar of OMI hair growth peptides and has been ingesting four tablespoons of collagen every morning, plus Grüns vitamins for gut health.

Viewers leapt into the comments section with reactions like: ‘Why are you on Mounjaro? You are SUPER thin!’ and: ‘Why are you on this medication?’

‘This is wild. She was never over weight to begin with,’ observed another TikTok user, urging Sophia’s mother: ‘Kyle check in on your daughter.’

Another scolded Sophia: ‘You’re a young girl promoting anorexia essentially. You shouldn’t be doing this to your body. You don’t need it. You’re enough and pretty.’

However Sophia also had many defenders who praised her for her ‘honesty’ in discussing her Mounjaro use and hair problems.

‘People get mad for NOT being transparent and then attack you when you are transparent,’ noted one TikTok user. ‘I cannoooottttt with yall!!!!!’

Speaking with her co-stars Dorit Kemsley, Erika Giradi, Teddi Mellencamp and Lisa Rinna, while in Paris, she revealed she weighed a mere 99lbs and would limit herself to six almonds a day or a V8 juice.

‘It started when I was 17. I was on a TV show and they kept putting me in these big things, my boobs were big when I was young, my sisters were tiny and cute, everyone was blonde, blue-eyed and skinny,’ she recalled.

‘I said I don’t like my wardrobe and they said, “Lose some weight and we’ll put you in cuter wardrobe”.’

And comparing herself to her blonde haired sisters Kathy Hilton and Kim Richards as well as other models, Kyle began to shed her healthy weight.

Kyle continued: ‘I can remember times where I was like, “I’ll only have six almonds today. That’s all I’m going to have. I was very self conscious.’

The actress revealed that this was the first time she was ever sharing her story, not even telling her four daughter, as she ‘didn’t want to plant a seed in their heads’.
