University Challenge fans raged as a contestant with a ‘ridiculous’ habit returned to the show on Monday and stormed to victory.
The latest instalment of the BBC show saw Darwin College, Cambridge take on Warwick for a place in the grand final.
The two teams were battling it out in the second semi-final to take on Christ’s College, Cambridge.
Darwin College Cambridge’s team consisted of Rebecca McClelland, Sophie Willis, Harris Whitaker and Rowan Stewart, while Warwick’s was made up of Anaya Govindarajan, Thomas Hart, Oscar Siddle and Benjamin Watson.
Just moments into the episode fans were quick to point out Thomas’ habit – which viewers were left seriously distracted by back in February when he appeared on the programme.
Many have pointed out that the contestant sticks out his elbow before pressing the buzzer.

At the end of the instalment it was revealed that Warwick had managed to win their place in the final.
Darwin finished with 160 points, but Warwick managed to get 20 more, finishing on 180.
Presenter Amol Rajan told Darwin: ‘Such тιԍнт margins guys.’
But congratulating the winning team, he said: ‘What a run.
‘What an absolutely fantastic run you guys have had to make it to the semi-finals.
‘And that was a wonderful match against a brilliant team.’
The host was clearly very exhausted from the intense semi-final.
He told the players: ‘I’m going to need to lie down in a darkened room for a while!’
He continued: ‘You can’t lie down for that long because, at some point, you’re going to have to play in the final of University Challenge.’
Fans also raged ‘it’s annoying me already’ when Thomas appeared on the show earlier this month too.
Some fans took to social media to call out the behaviour and one even called it ‘insufferable’ while someone else posted on X: ‘The elbow is back.’
Another wrote: ‘#universitychallenge Hart at elbow training earlier today.’
While a third penned: ‘Hart straight in the dressing room after the final gong… to put an ice pack on his elbow.’
Someone else noticed another contestant was striking a similar pose and said: ‘Siddle has started to do the elbow thing too!!’
