The influencer Lizzie Kieffer shared the unfathomably tragic news that her 12-month-old daughter had died this week.
Kieffer — a physical therapist and social media star — revealed in a heartbreaking Instagram post that she and her husband Matt Kieffer were ‘shattered’ by the mysterious death of their daughter Lilian ‘Lily’ Louise Kieffer.
In the tender post, she revealed that her youngest child had been suffering from a ‘large mᴀss on her brain’ that had previously gone undetected.
Kieffer, who is currently pregnant with her third child, also shares an older daughter named Mia with her husband.
Her daughter Lily died less than 10 days after celebrating her first birthday.
‘We are shattered,’ she began her devastating announcement. ‘Wednesday we woke up to a nightmare that we never could have ever imagined becoming our reality. Our Lily pᴀssed away.’

‘Our hearts, our bodies, our souls ache for her as she was the purist [sic] of beings and brought light to every single space she filled,’ Kieffer continued. ‘Our days are written before we were even formed, and in Lily’s 374 days of life, she taught us more than I think many could in their lifetime.’
She wrote that the family ‘don’t have answers’ as to what happened to their daughter, nor could she explain why her death was ‘God’s plan’ for their lives.
‘And we will never fully understand this mystery until we see her again one day,’ she continued.

However, she expressed certainty that her late daughter was with ‘loved ones in heaven,’ and she sweetly added that Lily was ‘probably playing in her ball pit or riding in her little red car up there.’
‘We feel her,’ she wrote.
‘We also have come to learn that Lily had a large mᴀss on her brain that we could have never known about as she never showed signs,’ Kieffer continued, adding that additional answers could take ‘months’ while additional tests were conducted.
‘Our family and friends are holding us when we don’t feel it’s possible to move,’ she continued, before adding that she and her husband ‘feel God’s presence around’ them.
Kieffer asked her fans and followers to ‘pray hard’ for her family in their difficult time.
Just days before Lily’s death, Kieffer shared a sweet video of herself playing with the little girl and her old sister Mia. ‘Being in the front row seat to their life is my greatest honor,’ she wrote at the time

After reiterating her faith in God, Kieffer shared a sweet pH๏τo of Lily riding a tricycle.
‘Lilybug, you are our angel. And we know you’ll always be with us,’ she wrote.
‘Daddy, Mommy, Mia & new baby love you so damn much and we miss you ever single second.’
In her accompanying caption, Kieffer included a short message to her late daughter.
‘You taught us more in 1 year than most can in their life, Lily,’ she wrote. ‘We feel you with us. And we feel your spirit already in this new baby.
You will always, always be a part of us and although the hole will never be filled, speaking your name will sing through our days bringing joy into the moments,’ she continued. ‘You’re our light in this darkness and we know God is holding you in an extra special place.’
The comments on Kieffer’s post were filled with an outpouring of condolences, including a comment from fellow influencer Madeline Custer.
‘Words are so inadequate — I am praying for a unexplainable peace for you guys that could only come from God,’ she wrote. ‘You’re in every thought and prayer and if there are needs that arise for the day to day, please let your community know. I know it would be an honor to so many ❤️ She is in the arms of the One who formed every part of her.’
Dr. Mae Hughes, who, like Kieffer, is a physical therapist, wrote: ‘Lily was an absolute light. I pray for peace over you and your family ❤️ While Lily is in the arms of Jesus, it does not make the pain of missing her down here any less. I’m so sorry.’
