Hollywood star Tom Hardy fiercely defends small Welsh town as he tells presenter off in a VERY chaotic radio interview

Tom Hardy fiercely defended Barry Island’s famous ghost train as he cheekily told off a radio presenter during a very chaotic radio interview.

The Hollywood legend, 47, – who has been filming a project in Wales this year – made an appearance on The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X, where he was interviewed by co-host Dominic Byrne.

The Peaky Blinders alum began revealing he was a ‘mᴀssive’ fan of the radio show.

Shortly after, presenter Dominic asked of his time in Wales recently: ‘People were saying they spotted you on Barry Island.

‘And apparently you were on the ghost train, is that true?,’ to which Tom replied: ‘I don’t know.’

‘Okay, because I’ve been on ghost train, and it’s one of the scariest,’ Dominic added.

The Legend actor then quipped: ‘Hang on a minute, it’s brought it back to me. It’s brought it back to me. It goes around in a loop and comes back out on the left?

‘Yes, I’ve been on that,’ while the host admitted: ‘And the guy running the ride is actually scarier than the ride itself.’

But Tom looked serious as he quipped: ‘I wouldn’t say that.’

‘Right,’ said Dominic.

‘You can’t say that,’ remarked hilariously the Venom star.

‘Because he might be listening, and that’s just a terrible thing to say about Barry Island, isn’t it, when you think about it? I feel I should defend him immediately.’

‘That’s wrong. I had a great time on Barry Island.’

‘I went with my family, and there’s also the two penny machines. You know, the slidey machines?,’ which Dominic quickly recalled.

As the host defined the island's ghost train the 'scariest', he asked Tom: 'Have you weened yourself off the two penny machines?' to which Tom simply replied: ''I don't talk about that, no. It's none of your business'

'You're absolutely right. I don't want to pry, Tom,' Dominic apologised while the actor replied promptly: 'Then don't'

‘They are incredible,’ before adding: ‘They’re not healthy, okay? So, in moderation. But they are good fun.’

Continuing to dig with saucy questions, Dominic asked:’Have you weened yourself off the two penny machines…’

‘I don’t talk about that, no. It’s none of your business,’ the Inception favourite quipped.

‘I won’t,’ Dominic ᴀssured, before Tom moved on saying: ‘Next question.’

Tom’s most recent project is Guy Ritchie’s MobLand starring the English actor next to legends Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.

The gritty series follows powerful London crime bosses Conrad and Maeve Harrigan, played by Pierce and Helen, as they battle a rival syndicate threatening their empire.

Tom takes on the role of Harry Da Souza, their brutal fixer, who is called in to deal with any problems.

Other familiar faces in the drama include Downton Abbey’s Joanne Froggatt as Tom’s on-screen wife, Jan and Peaky Blinders’ Paddy Considine as the Harrigans’ son Kevin.

The series also features a supporting cast including Top Boy’s Jasmine Jobson, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, Geoff Bell, Daniel Betts, Lisa Dwan, and Emily Barber.

The series had been referenced under two different working тιтles, The ᴀssociate and Fixer, before landing on MobLand.

Helen and Pierce first co-starred in the 1980 gangster movie The Long Good Friday, and more recently filmed a movie adaptation of Richard Osman’s bestseller The Thursday Murder Club.

Meanwhile Venom star Tom is executive producer of MobLand, with episodes directed by gangster specialist Guy, known for films such as Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and Netflix hit The Gentlemen.

The production had a bumpy ride, including camera equipment being stolen last November.

Two men in a Toyota Prius distracted the crew by asking for directions before speeding off with the expensive kit.

Speaking about the incident, a source told The Sun: ‘Their questions distracted people and at that moment, the other bloke jumped out and grabbed a bag of camera equipment that was on the side of the road.

‘He jumped back in the car and they sped off. The security guards started going bananas because they’d basically been robbed in broad daylight. It was pretty embarrᴀssing and a costly mistake. The kit on those films isn’t cheap.’

It was also previously reported Tom offered to pay the wages of the crew after a construction company went into liquidation.

Around 50 freelance building workers were left devastated after Helix 3D, the company contracted to build sets, went bust.

According to The Times, the company then refused to pay out £250,000 of wages ahead of Christmas, and its chief executive Brian Dowling sent out the devastating message saying their pay would likely not be in their accounts before the New Year.

It wasn’t until star Tom stepped in and offered to pay the workers’ wages that Paramount resolved the situation and set about sorting their pay checks.

Tom is set for a busy few months and will also star in Havoc in Spring of this year which will come to Netflix. It follows the story of a detective who is on a mission to rescue a politician’s son – and Tom has taken on the role of protagonist Walker.

The movie – which was filmed in 2021 – is written and directed by Gareth Evans.

It promises bloody violence, high-octane car chases and some smouldering one-liners courtesy of Tom.

Tom will be joined by Jessie Mei Li, Justin Cornwell, Quelin Sepulveda, Luis Guzmán, Michelle Waterson, Sunny Pang, Jim Caesar, Xelia Mendes-Jones with Yeo Yann Yann, with Timothy Olyphant, and Forest Whitaker in the action thriller.

You can listen to The Chris Moyles Show on Radio X weekdays from 6:30am to 10am and on Global Player.
