Naomi Campbell has declared she will never attend another Met Gala again because she feels ‘too old’ and can no longer deal with the anxiety that it brings her.

The supermodel, 54, who commanded attention in a Burberry turquoise gown on the 2024 red carpet, made the shocking admission on route to last year’s event.

Just a week away from fashion’s biggest event of the year on May 5, Naomi released a new video with the surprise confession.

In a new episode of her Being Naomi series on YouTube, Naomi said: ‘This is my last Met. It is my last. I can’t… I’m too old. It’s too much for me, the anxiety.

‘I don’t know what number this is, I think it could be either 20 or 21, can you imagine.’

In the clip, she takes viewers behind the scenes of her preparations for the 2024 Met Gala, themed Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.

The Met Gala, formally called the Costume Insтιтute Benefit, is the annual haute couture fundraising festival held for the benefit of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Insтιтute in Manhattan.

Chaired by Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour, it is widely regarded as the world’s most prestigious and glamorous fashion event, attracting A-list stars from around the world.

Every year, the event is tied to a theme, with 2024’s celebrating historical garments being ‘reawakened’ and preserved through modern creativity.

However, Naomi admitted that she doesn’t like adhering to the themes – preferring to play by her own rules instead.

‘I don’t follow themes, sorry. I just flow,’ she declared before stepping onto the red carpet in a dazzling silver archival gown by Burberry – a nod to her long-standing tie with the British fashion house.

The first Monday in May 2025 will see the most famous names in the business showcase their interpretation of this year’s theme – Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.

Outside of fashion, she has been keeping busy with motherhood and business ventures. 

She welcomed her second child, a son, in 2023, having previously announced the arrival of her daughter in 2021.

Naomi has been fiercely private about her children, choosing not to publicly share their idenтιтy.

The release of her confessional video comes just weeks after The White Lotus star Jason Isaacs revealed he had to give Naomi a ‘pep talk’ when she started panicking before walking in London Fashion Week’s Burberry show in February this year.

‘She’d had a bad knee – it was the first time she’d walked in four months,’ he said. 

‘She’d had her knee fixed and Naomi and I chatted about knees for quite a long time. I spent all the time before we went on in front of this crowd, giving her a pep talk about how she’d be fine.’
