Amanda Holden has revealed her controversial relationship advice ahead of the launch of her new Netflix series, Cheat: Unfinished Business. 

In the show, Amanda, 54, and relationship expert Paul C. Brunson, 50, help eight ex-partners try to put put the past behind them and reconnect during their stay at a luxury ‘retreat’ in Mallorca.

Speaking about what she’d learnt from the show, Amanda revealed she’d picked up a tip from Paul to help her with her own marriage to Chris Hughes – who she married in 2008. 

The couple share children Lexi, 19, and Hollie, 13, with Amanda regularly sharing sweet snaps with her lookalike daughters on social media. 

Yet while Amanda’s love for her kids is unwavering, she revealed she’d learnt from Paul that in marriage: ‘you have to put your husband first. Your children have to come second.’ 

Speaking to MailOnline, she mused: ‘That is a unusual thing to hear. I heard that from Paul, and I was like, God, I have to prioritise my husband.’

Speaking about what she’d learnt from the show, Amanda revealed she’d picked up a tip from Paul to help her with her own marriage to Chris Hughes – who she married in 2008. 

She continued: ‘I think everyone gets wrapped up with their children and their schedules and all the drama around your children when they’re growing up.

‘But you have to remember that you and your husband were there together first. 

‘You have to invest in that relationship in order that you continue to have a relationship for your children’s sake as well as your own. So that is incredibly important.

‘It is very controversial, but it’s also supported by research.’ 

Later, Amanda revealed the cheeky way her spark stays alive with Chris – admitting that after 17 years of marriage he is still ‘obsessed’ with her bum. 

As Paul admitted he loves checking out his wife’s bottom, Amanda revealed: ‘My husband plays guitar and he’s so obsessed with my bum he made up a whole song about it! 

‘I had my bum sculpted, he’s got it as a piece of art in his office!’ 

On their lengthy relationship, she continued: ‘It gets better with time, I think, because I it’s like Paul has said, the more you communicate, the more you feel at ease and that you can be yourself for somebody.’

She went on: ‘The more you desire them and you want to be in bed with them and be everywhere with them. 

‘When there’s truthfulness there, and when there’s communication and when you can be vulnerable with them, I think that’s the most important thing. 

‘That’s because you feel safe with them, and that’s what I think this entire show has been about. 

‘It’s about those couples trying to feel safe with each other again and Paul giving them that guiding light to get there.’

Amanda has previously married to comedian Les Dennis, 71. 

The couple wed in 1995 when she was 22 and he was 40, before eventually parting ways in 2003, following Amanda’s much publicised affair with actor Neil Morrissey, 62.

Les has since forgiven Amanda for her infidelity, saying that he is ‘happy that she’s happy’.

He has also since remarried, finding love with wife Claire Nicholson, following his marriages to Lynne Webster and Amanda.

Rebecca Gormley and Biggs Chris, who met when they starred on Love Island in 2020, seek the help of Britain’s Got Talent judge Amanda and Married At First Sight UK relationship expert Paul C. Brunson as they confront the reasons for their split head-on.

And they’re not the only couple longing for closure as non-league footballer Craig and his former flame Jazz hope to recover from one of them living a double life while store manager Olivia and PT Liam have a decade worth of memories at stake.

 In the show’s first look trailer, Amanda wowed in a see-through ɴuᴅᴇ dress adorned with silver sequins as she strutted in slo-mo to the show’s villa, where she warned: ‘Cheating is one of the most heartbreaking betrayals of trust.’

Amanda explained: ‘They will reunite here in this relationship retreat guided by expert, Paul before asking one of the couples: ‘Do you think there is something worth rebuilding?’

It’s the first time the Heart Breakfast presenter has fronted a dating show after she first found fame as a contestant on Blind Date when she was just 19.

The mother-of-two, who was seen comforting one of the female contestants as she sobs during filming, said she would allow her daughters Lexi and Hollie and to take part in a dating show, as long as it wasn’t Love Island.

She is joined by Married At First Sight UK relationship expert Paul, who helps the couples come to terms with their betrayals and offers ways they could possibly move forward.

Cheat: Unfinished Business is available to stream on Netflix from April 30

Paul, who’s been married to childhood sweetheart Jill for 23 years, got his big break after Oprah Winfrey spotted one of his YouTube videos and invited him to co-host a TV show with her.

The Washington-born star has further established his career on UK soil with podcast We Need To Talk, where he has interviewed the likes of comedian Katherine Ryan, former X Factor judge Tulisa, and Love Island contestant Maura Higgins.

He said he was excited to explore ‘all the grey areas of infidelity’ while working with the contestants on Unfinished Business, adding: ‘Not only that, but to work with Amanda Holden has been a dream of mine, so with her on board there was no way I could say no.’

Cheat: Unfinished Business is available to stream on Netflix from April 30.
