Jessie J has revealed the response to emotional comeback single No Secrets, which was inspired by her tragic 2021 miscarriage, has been ‘overwhelming’.
The singer, 37, chocked back tears as she sung the heartbreaking lyrics during an appearance on Friday’s Capital XTRA Breakfast with Manny Norte.
Jessie was left devastated after the baby loss, before going on welcome her son Sky with her basketball player boyfriend Chanan Safir Colman in May 2023.
Speaking about her new release, her first four years, Jessie said: ‘This song is really just a kind of diary entry, conversational, personal verses of me’,
Before going on to sing: ‘I lost my baby, but the show must go on, right. No if, ands or maybe, can I cry for just one night? I’m standing here naked, but I chose the spotlight. Sometimes I hate it, sometimes it feels nice’.
Jessie stopped, overcome with emotion and explained that she wrote the lyrics when she was pregnant, and what how different she feels now following the loss.
The songstress, who is based in LA, went on: ‘I just want to say thank you, honestly. I feel like the consistency of love and the excitement that I’ve felt from the UK in coming back has been so overwhelming and something I didn’t expect. It’s really helping fill my battery and my cup to feel confident about coming back.’

Jessie’s new singe No Secrets, which will be followed by Living My Best Life on May 16, has been described as deeply personal song that also serves as her raw and unfiltered reintroduction to the industry.
Speaking about the release she said: ‘This song is super personal but I hope it can be relative to anyone’s life. I’m a very honest person; I say it how it is, and I share with the world a lot of things that most people don’t but always with a little humour. Humour is key” The music has really gotten me through’.
In 2023 Jessie shared a heartfelt message about dealing with grief, saying it is something that can ‘swallow us whole’.
Alongside a video of her singing she wrote: ‘Grief is honestly a s****y, weird and very personal journey. It can come up and swallow us whole when we least expect it.
‘It’s not something you can prepare for or practice. It’s something so many of us have in common but have to navigate so uniquely and so often goes unspoken.
‘Just something that lives beneath the surface or in a cloud in our minds. It can be so consuming and dark and lonely. I’m hugging you.’
Last week Jessie also teased her upcoming new album during an intimate gig at Ronnie Scott’s in Soho.
During the low-key gig, she gave a glimpse of what fans can expect as she played some of her new songs.

During the private acoustic concert, the stunner also reflected of the highs and lows of the past few years of her life, which included a heartbreaking miscarriage in 2021 and her elation at welcoming her son Sky in 2023.
Speaking to the audience, Jessie said: ‘This sets the tone. It reminds people that I make music because I’m human’, reports The Sun.
‘I go through real-life s**t. I’m the artist that doesn’t put on costumes — just don’t Google me from 2010.
‘In life, I’ve had highs of highest. And I’ve had the lowest of lows. I love being the soundtrack to people’s good and bad times. It’s the joy that literally makes me feel like my life has a huge purpose.’

Meanwhile during her showcase, Jessie defiantly told how she’s no longer holding back amid her music resurgence.
She told The Standard: ‘It’s about me. I’ve done this too long, I’ve been signed to too many record labels, I’ve had way too many managers to just be low-key about it now.’
For her music comeback, Jessie has reportedly ‘teamed up with Adele’s favourite songwriting partner Ryan Tedder’.
Jessie is rumoured to have ‘a string of new songs and her fifth album ready to go’ as she teams up with the OneRepublic’s singer.
‘She’s been through some seismic changes in her life over the past couple of years, most notably becoming a mum, and it’s inspired her to get back into the studio,’ a source previously told The Sun.
‘Jessie spent time writing with Ryan, who wrote her song I Want Love, and they’ve come up with some amazing new tunes.
‘She didn’t want to keep churning out record after record, and wanted it to feel authentic and real.’
