Ben Affleck revealed that his two eldest children with Jennifer Garner are not slackers.

That is because Violet, 19, and Fin, 16, both have jobs already.

And one of them is ‘working a shop job’ like a regular teenager, though the movie star would not say what the job was.  

This is something his ex Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter Apple did in Los Angeles for years before heading to Vanderbilt University in Tennessee. Apple was a clerk at a clothing store in the west side of LA.

Ben and Gwyneth dated from 1997 to 2000.

‘Yeah, my oldest two have jobs,’ Affleck replied when guest co-host Andy Cohen brought up the topic during Tuesday’s episode of Today with Jenna & Friends.

‘In fact, one just got a job, the kind of classic teenager working a shop job — I won’t say what it is. My older one in college is working and trying to get an internship for the summer.’

On the talk show, the Batman star, who recently dished on his failed marriage to Jennifer Lopez, explained why he refused to buy expensive shoes for his son Samuel in spite of his alleged $150 million net worth. 

‘He wanted these sneakers, and I was like, ‘These sneakers are $6,000, what are you talking about? What are you gonna do, mow lawns? You got $6,000?’ Affleck joked as he recalled their interaction.

‘He was like, ‘We have the money.’ I was like, ‘I have the money! You’re broke.” 

Affleck reiterated that he ‘wants to give them everything’ but believes his children ‘have to work’ for what they want. 

‘You love your kids. You want to give them everything and do everything for them, but I think you definitely do them a disservice by not connecting [if] you want something that you want, you have to work for that.’ 

His youngest child now coming to age and learning the money lesson from his father. 

‘And yeah, my son, who’s 13, he’s reckoning with that reality right now,’ Affleck said. 

‘He’s looking at no shoes in his closet. Well, he’s got shoes, just no crazy expensive fancy shoes,’ he added.

This comes after Affleck praised his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez for being ‘spectacular’ to his children.

The 52-year-old actorseparated from second wife J.Lo, 55, in April 2024, after two years of marriage.

Lopez has 17-year-old twins Max and Emme – who she has with her ex-husband Marc Anthony – and her children and his own kids joined him at the Los Angeles premiere of his new action film ‘The Accountant 2’ on Wednesday night (16.04.25).

Speaking on the red carpet, Ben took a moment to praise J.Lo for maintaining a wonderful relationship with his kids, despite their split.

Speaking to ‘Entertainment Tonight’, he said: ‘For the record, Jennifer Lopez is spectacular, great to my kids, great ongoing relationship with them.

‘I love her kids. They’re wonderful. She’s [an] enormously important, tremendous person of a lot of integrity who I adore and am grateful to.

‘I’m thrilled that the kids are here with me.

‘The relationships that you can have with children like that, it’s the joy of my life.

‘And those kids are amazing, and I’m glad that this is a movie they want to come to.’

Affleck also admitted that he avoids reading anything about what people think of his relationship with Lopez, because he doesn’t want negativity in his life.

Affleck is seen arriving at the Jimmy Kimmel Live Show on April 23 to pormote his film The Accountant 2

He said: ‘I don’t read the stuff online much, and sometimes I get the sense that people perpetuate this idea of … they want to find something negative to talk about.’

‘The Accountant 2’ – which follows forensic accountant Christian Wolff who ‘teams up with his estranged but highly lethal brother to track down mysterious ᴀssᴀssins’ – is something the star is ‘proud’ of , and the night was even more special knowing that his and Jennifer’s children were there to support him.

Ben – who told GQ magazine in March 2025 that there is ‘no scandal, no soap opera, no intrigue’ surrounding his break-up from J.Lo – said: ‘It’s a great night. The kids are here, Jen’s kids are here. I’m very, very excited.

‘I’m proud of the movie, I love the movie, and I love when all the kids come out. It’s really fun, it’s exciting.’
