Malcolm In The Middle cast seen in first pH๏τo for reboot hours after star Frankie Muniz says he hit ‘new low’

Just a day after admitting to hitting, ‘a new mental and emotional new low,’ Frankie Muniz reunited with his Malcolm In the Middle parents Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek.

Muniz, 39, who played the тιтle character on the original Fox sitcom that ran seven seasons from 2000 to 2006, shared a snap of him with Cranston, 69, and Kaczmarek, 69 on Tuesday.

While it isn’t clear if shooting has begun, Muniz revealed back in January that Fox had given the green light for the show, and that filming would start in April and would be worked around his schedule as a NASCAR driver.

The actor was clearly in good spirits while sharing the snap on Tuesday, with all three smiling as he captioned the post, ‘Always good to have Mom and Dad around!’

However, just one day earlier, he tweeted, ‘If I’m being 100% honest… Mentally/emotionally I may be at a new low. Just wanted to say it out loud.’

It wasn’t clear if his ‘new low’ was related to his Malcolm In the Middle reboot or his NASCAR career, but he certainly seemed in much better spirits with his TV parents.

There had been talks of a Malcolm In the Middle reboot for years, though it finally came to fruition back in December.

Disney Plus revealed they had given the green light for a limited four-episode series, with Muniz, Cranston and Kaczmarek returning with original series creator Linwood Boomer and Ken Kwapis, who will produce and direct all four episodes.

The story will revolve around Malcolm’s parents Hal and Lois who demand that he and his daughter attend their 40th anniversary party.

During an interview with Fox Sports in late January, Muniz revealed he will be ‘commuting’ between the set and his NASCAR races.

‘They are working around my NASCAR schedule, which I think they told me, I was the first person that they ever had to work around cause normally like an actor is committed to the acting,’ Muniz revealed.

He added, ‘we’re filming Sundays’ through to Thursdays with me getting Thursdays off to fly to race Friday, to fly back Saturday to film Sunday through Wednesday. So, it’s going to be an interesting month but I’m prepared for it,” he added.

Disney confirmed in March that original stars Christopher Masterson (Francis) and Justin Berfield (Reese) will reprise their roles, though one original actor is not returning.

Caleb Ellsworth-Clark signed on to play Malcolm’s younger brother Dewey, who was originally played by Erik Per Sullivan, who quit acting in 2010.

The cast will also include Anthony Timpano as Malcolm’s youngest brother Jamie, who was just a toddler in the original series.

Vaughan Murrae will play Malcolm’s youngest sister Kelly, who was revealed by Lois holding a positive pregnancy test in the show’s series finale in 2006.

Rounding out the new cast will be Kiana Madeira as Malcolm’s girlfriend Tristan, and Keeley Karsten as Malcolm’s daughter Leah.

Disney Plus has not yet revealed a premiere date for the new show on the streaming service quite yet.

Muniz had long had an interest in racing, competing in many celebrity races before turning his attention to racing full-time in 2021.

He currently races full-time for Reaume Brothers Racing for the NASCAR Truck Series in the No. 33 truck.
